Re: Vertigo

Any infection of the inner ear can cause:hearing loss, vertigo, false sense of motion, loss of equilibrium, nystagmus, motion sickness,gaze-evoked tinnitus.
That's because all of that is controlled by Cranial nerve #8, the Vestibulocochlear.
[link to en.wikipedia.org]
Warning, an ear infection could make you spin around. You could lose your balance because of two things. You can't determine your location in space AND linear acceleration. The later is the sensation that detects movement, like in a car as it accelerates. The former is how you are turned relative to the visual stimuli that orients your position. Say you are hanging off of a bed upside down with your head off of the matress. Because of cranial nerve 8, you can orient yourself even under those complex circumstanes.

Now you get an ear infection. If you're driving under those circumstances, great confusion could occur. Terrible accidents. If older and walking around the house, you could fall easily and break your hip.

Be very careful if you have an ear infection and then take a shower. A lot of falls occur on the wet surface under these conditions. You'd be surprised. There's a very high incidence rate of brain damage from a fall like that. Get help when sick, and especially help elderly parents. One little change will upset the delicate balance that allows them the freedom to stay home.

You have to take an ear infection SERIOUSLY. Most people think of small children with ear infections, so they blow it off. NO.

I've been coughing up phlegm pretty much every morning since June. I thought it was a reaction to inhaling some water in the Dead Sea (you really shouldn't do that, it burns), but it still hasn't gone away.

Several family have had some flu-like illness off and on for nearly three months! Since Christmas, seems like the whole community is sick.

I'd managed to avoid it (swab ears with hydrogen peroxide, take D and eat LOTS of turmeric and cayenne) until last weekend. Total sudden onset too! Felt really weird for the better part of a day... drugged sort of weird... then full on flu symptoms.

Took 2K vitamin C, ate as much fresh garlic as I could stand, felt like I spent a whole day in the bathroom, then another in bed. Woke today doing Much better.

Gotta love garlic (if you can stand it lol)... genuine "miracle cure" for some things.

Azithromycin is a macrolide antibiotics that has some benefits. It can be taken once per day, which improves compliance with meds. (Less meds, more chances people will take it all. Take ALL of your antibiotics even if you feel better.)

It does have issues when taken with antacids. If on those, then tell your doc, because the two will interact and make BOTH ineffective. Pregnant moms shouldn't take it. There are better ones for them.

It works against a lot of bacteria:Hemophilus influenzae, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Mycoplasma pneumoniae, Staphylococcus aureus, mycobacterium avium, and others. The bolded ones are very common. Staph aureus will often have both respiratory issues plus stomach issues, a double whammy.

However, it also can cause stomach upset and diarhea. If you're sensitive to that, then ask for another antibiotic. Worse, it could actually cause Clostridium dificile to get in higher than normal bacteria counts, and then the cure is worse than the original illness.

Be cautious using this antibiotic. There's some qualifiers there. Learning your body's way of reacting to medications, plus a little knowledge about specific meds, helps you as the patient make an informed decision versus just doing as you're told.

I'm sick for the third time in 2 months. I need a body massage, any remote massagers?
 Quoting: pool

No all over body massage during an infection. Very bad. It could spread the infection. You can do a facial massage to drain the sinuses yourself.

Hot baths. You need them, not a shower. You want to encourage lymph circulation. Spoil yourself with a long hot bath.
 Quoting: Don'tBeAfraid

Thank you. I was feeling a bit abandoned. hugs Took the hot bath and it felt worse if it wasn't scalding water. I had no idea what cold to the bone meant until this morning. I was hugging a heater and was still shaking cold. My pits and legs were killing me. No sinus crap, thankfully. No appetite, fuckety fuck. The flu sucks. The "tamiflu" pills were over a hundred bucks, even with pharmacy coverage.

Thanks again. Hope you're staying well.
 Quoting: pool

Therapeutic touch through massage is an essential aspect of healing. It was in the USA until 1920 when new people became convinced that purchasing a medicine sold from a pharmaceutical company could cure everything and medicine became allopathic. If you can, find an osteopathic doctor. They can prescribe medicines plus they give massages, will talk about nutrition, clean water, and exercise and treat the WHOLE PERSON. Not take a pill and call me when you wish to give me more of your money.

Anyone can give you a massage. It's not hard to learn. If people would get over the idea that touching someone was sexual, then we'd have extraordinary health and closeness. Think how close friends could become and no jokes please! The divorce rate would plummet. Wars could be averted. Everyone is so stressed out, and a weekly massage would probably cause an immediate reduction in SSRIs for depression too.

When you get better, offer to give one, in exchange for one.
 Quoting: Don'tBeAfraid

Yes to massage! I had my first one two weeks ago. My
BP was 159/99 before the massage. When I went home after the massage my BP was a lovely and perfect 112/76 and I felt just wonderful and relaxed......going back on Thursday for another massage. I hooked now for sure.

Yes to buddy sharing on massage.

For several months now, everytime I walked outside my nose would start running. I'm in Texas and do suffer from seasonal alergies, but this year it's been different. I was wondering, if there was something in the air. My nose would tell me (by running), the weather would be changing.

I've had some sort of flu/cold for almost 48 hours. Coughing, weezing, sneezing. I say possible flu because of how tired and run down i've felt, very similar to a flu bug, but no vomiting.

I know there's a lot of postings, but I dealt with one type of bacteria (Staph aureus) which can cause a respiratory flu as well as stomach issues (vomiting) which is called gasteroenteritis.

If her mucus turns yellow or green and is thick, and her fever goes to 102 and above, then probably this is the cause and she should get treated with antibiotics.
...
There are many sick people, but with different illnesses, and so it becomes confusing to non-medical people. They talk of the "flu" when there's four common things going around plus numerous regular illness too.

Listing your symptoms carefully and clearly makes it easier to troubleshoot. You need to do that, prior to seeing a doc, because when you communicate well, then he/she can hear those trigger words, and then get you the right treatment.

Whooping cough (pertusis) IS going around. It has been discussed here as one of the issues that is prevalent now. It produces a distinctive sound like this:

Hear the "whoop" as the patient tries to draw in a breath because the coughing is so extreme that their oxygen levels get low and the smooth muscle is spasming?

If you or your loved one is making that sound, then yes, you may indeed have pertusis. It is VERY contagious, and so when one family member is treated, then all are treated, because it gets passed around.

See how the patient instinctively creates body language to press towards her chest? She knows that there's a clog there. There is in fact a narrowing of the bronchi, the opening to the respiratory tract with heavy mucus. This reduces the oxygen levels, and so the patient will often get cyanotic (turn blue, often in the lips) because their body is hypoperfussed with oxygen.

Go right away to the doc when it progresses like that!

In any situation where mucus is coming up, then by gently tapping (percussive therapy), the tapping relocates the mucus, and then the weakened patient might cough up the mucus plug and breathe better. Otherwise, you give them an inhaler which opens the airway and reduces the smooth muscle spasm. Giving a cough syrup might help, but you have to give the right kind. An expectorant helps dislodge mucus. A suppressant only relaxes the smooth muscle so they can get relief from a spasm. A lot of cough syrups do nothing to treat the patient, only taste good.

Fix the problem, not the symptom.

Just take the oil of wild oregano sublingually repeatedly; it will blast it out.

Also, you can use the sinus/oregano spray. These are highly effective for this crud.

If a better world, we would use both/and instead of either/or to treat people. We would work with ancient medical practices by testing and verifying efficacy, then applying the proven ones. We also would use modern medical techniques and pharmacology. Teamwork is always better.

In Japan they try somewhat. A Kampo herbalist will be contacted or the physican will refer a case to them when the patient is not responding to allopathic or osteopathic medicine.

There are very powerful phytochemicals in things like oil of oregano, garlic, tea tree oil, and it's too bad that we don't use them, because maybe they're cheaper and more effective. We don't know, because we don't test them.

We do know that in the search for agents to fight MRSA, that tea tree oil has been used to dramatically lower the presence of MRSA.

We have lots of written history of docs using herbs throughout history. We know there's something to it.

On the other hand we have lots of data about pharmaceuticals, but some of it very bad and causing severe symptoms and actually killing or maiming people.

One might though attempt to treat at home with herbs, and then if not properly diagnosed and treated, an infection could get worse, and even get secondary infection. Don't stop using antibiotics, but work prudently with your doc.

BOTH/AND

I once attended a lecture by one of the top microbiology experts. He's consulted by numerous doctors when given a puzzling case. He helps them diagnose the illness and helps them choose the right antibiotic treatement to deal with the infection. He believes that infection will be treated by alternative means than antibiotics because they're an old paradigm.

At the base of the lungs is tough flap of muscle called the diaphram.

It contains the phrenic nerve. If stimulated by infection, you could have "referred pain" which might show up as stomach pain. The stomach is right below the diaphram. It also could feel like pain in your liver too.
[link to medicalimages.allrefer.com]

This is why it's confusing when sick, because visceral (the area of organs inside) nerves refer dull pain all the time. It might show up as shoulder pain. How weird is that?

Countries used to have visible rulers.....Kings, Queens, etc.

Since the French Revolution......the world has come under the rule of those who are largely invisible to the masses. It is different from all previous kingdoms.

This Kingdom has been in power for approx. 225 years and has approx. 4 or 5 years left until God Himself destroys it.

"The fourth beast shall be a fourth kingdom on earth, which shall be different from all other kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, trample it and break it in pieces."

Thanks. Just killed another fruit fly and thought of this:

[link to www.thenakedscientists.com]

Kat:: What sorts of viruses are these that infect fruit flies? I can't imagine a fruit fly with a cold.

Frank:: Well, it turns out that in fact, fruit flies have an enormous diversity of viruses. So, there's only two or three which are well-understood and that we work with in the lab. But in fact, if you look and you sequence viruses from fruit flies, they have a diversity of viruses, many of which are related to things like rabies in vertebrates, and a whole range of other viruses which infect us. So in fact, they have lots of different viruses. Many of which are very similar to viruses which we get.

AS posted on several threads, it is just the beginning of TWELVE symptoms when you have PASSED the 50 rads ( Radiation Absorbed Dose ) of CUMULATIVE radiation from eating, drinking and breathing in the Fukushima radiation that has arrived in the last TWENTY ONE MONTHS ! It NEVER STOPPED COMING, fools!

The others, already occurring, and coming are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, weight loss, loss of appetite, red itchy shin, sore throat, sore mouth, hair loss recurring infections ( from compromised immune system ), Bleeding ( especially from gums ) and anemia !

These are from government studies of the 1960-70s, all documented in April/May of 2011 by Emerald Eyes, who did all the work. I only made a list for family/friends.

During the previous Pandemic scare in 2009, there were reports from Congressional Research Services, eyewitness testimony, interviews, etc that revealed a program in which the federal goverment has created stratistics on the amount of Tamiflu that should be stored in each state in order to cope with Influenza.

Tamiflu doesn't cure Influenza. It lessens symptoms.

At that time, many states didn't have the recommended amounts, and there was concern about the shortfall. Regardless, in most cases there was only enough for perhaps 5% of the state populations to take it. We can't store medications for 100% and then throw it away, can we?

You'd have to be a prophet to decide exactly how much to store.

If say the USA purchased all of the Tamiflu to achieve 100% for every man, woman, and child, then other countries wouldn't have it. That's not a good situation either. Wars could potentially begin over such a thing.

Some Tamiflu wasn't used and went bad, and so politicians and health officials were ciriticzed for wasting money. It's very expensive. They were damned if they do or damned if they don't.

What would you suggest? Are you willing to raise taxes to pay for something that might not be needed and only helps alleviate suffering and doesn't cure? It's given for a set amount of time, and then helps, but what if someone else needs it? Who decides who gets it? Who decides how long they have taking it before it's given to another.

All valid bioethics questions without good answers.

The typical answer is that critical infrastructure: politicians, health care workers, soldiers, law enforcement, firemen, utility workers, communications workers, possibly banking, some industrial workers, would get the drug as needed. However that's crap because of the high amounts that would be needed.

In medicine they do statistical study about the most likely amounts of patients, longevity, mortality, lengths of convalesence, and complile it into what is called biostatistics. Then they give these to the leadership and they make a decision based upon political exegencies and money. Not science.
