Think of it this way, with accomplishing spiritual evolution, you gain satisfaction. So it feels as if your desires have already been met. I'd say yes and no.

You know how something would feel without having to do it.

Somewhere, it's taking place already.

Should you wish a piece of it to occupy your time, you can then pull it to you. It's much like the internet.

If by "spiritual evolution" you mean "old age", then yes!

Re: Do we eventually lose our desires as we reach a certain level of spiritual evolution?
When "we" eventually reach the point of understanding where we have no more questions and everything is predictable to a degree of 100% certainty, we would then create life to pass on the crazy experience we just went through to reach the aforementioned understanding. In a fundamental sense, we already do the same thing by procreating and allowing our younger selves to enjoy this trip called life.

We experience pain and suffering (among other feelings or desires for particular feelings) to convince us that this is reality. If we understood everything, we would no longer feel anything and the only thing to do would be to pass this opportunity on.

In other words, "life" has been happening for all eternity and just as great as one's own interpretation of a "creator" is, that creator was a metaphorical child at some point.

Spiritual evolution seperates you from the majority of humanity. It comes with a price. You see things differntly, people differently, the things people do differently. You begin to understand unseen forces you and others wield and forces that are wielded by other spiritual forces. It can be a lonely place in a way but a free place at the same time. Its mostly sad for me now because I feel overwhelmed by the negative forces working through those around me. Seeing and understanding the "mechanics" of it while it's happening pops the bubble of "ignorance is bliss".

I don't think we lose them, but we gain the upper hand in controlling them, as opposed to them controlling us and how we use, react and brandish them.

I would rather feel a permanent inner peace that relinquishes me from the physical and mental stresses of life and that accompany or require the temporary fixes of the flesh.

Re: Do we eventually lose our desires as we reach a certain level of spiritual evolution?
Good thread people. My main concern and greatest fear is that I somehow lose my drive to keep on driving. It seems as well that at times my mind will try and do that to me, I guess its to always keep a contrast. Contrast between that epic feeling of bliss when you think of something that really clicks and synches, and the feeling of deep, vast and dark emptiness, which results for me in a feeling I can only described as depressed.

But the funniest and most ironic lesson I have learned is that if it wasn't for my states of darkness I would have no contrast for the states of enlightenment.

Yes, our spirits are able to reflect and grow more with age, we also learn from both the past and present allowing for us to gain an understanding of what really matters and it ain't money nor material things.

Re: Do we eventually lose our desires as we reach a certain level of spiritual evolution?
the trick is to stop the aging process and fight it back the other way.

I'm around 10 years younger than my actual age..and that ain't just ppl humoring me. cannabis(tree of life) helps a lot with this by reducing free radicals and keeping cells fresh, it causes old cells that can become cancerous etc to commit suicide, and promotes neurogenesis.

never forget how to laugh..

The desire of continuing higher states of consciousness should never diminish, if The Ladder is infinite. Does that make sense? Just a way to put it. I don't know though.

If by "spiritual evolution" you mean drawing closer to Jesus, then It is normal.

John 15:19--If ye were of the world, the world would love his own; but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

To be 'in the world, but not of it,' free from ambition, greed, intellectual pride, blind obedience to custom, or awe of persons higher in rank.

The spiritually dead (without Christ), love the world and all it's pleasures and offerings. Followers of Jesus just want to go home to the kingdom of God. Unfortunately, that path goes through this place.

Re: Do we eventually lose our desires as we reach a certain level of spiritual evolution?
Yes. But do not think that you lose the sensation of pleasure.
Growing spiritually is like planting a seed outside of your body. We water and nurture the seed with positive thoughts, caring for others, immersing ourselves in exploring arts, being humble, being honest etc..
The goal of spiritual evolution is to become in sync with this spiritual plant you have planted and you do this by spending the rest of your life, every day and moment nurturing it, but as you become more in sync wit it, you will feel the nurturing as being done to you rather than by you. This will give you the sensation of fulfilled desires.
You can give someone a criticism to show that you know better or to really care for helping them. You still get involved in the action, but your intention differs. This is crucial. One intention feeds the plant and the other halts it's growth.
As you grow spiritually you should be able to differentiate the 'nutritional value' for every action you take and EVEN EVERY THOUGHT. As you experience more of this spiritual fulfillment through your actions and thoughts, you will want this fulfillment more than the other, shallow, 'junk-food' form of fulfillment that body's and minds ill desires promise.
The more you practice this art the better you will become at it. But like every art it is inexhaustible and has to be done to enjoy the doing part not for the result.

Desire requires a sense of
seperation, so yes, when you
experience complete oneness
with the universe, what else
is there to want?
"If you do not go within
You WILL go without."

a logically perfect everything

I believe so. I was once very attracted to an epic loser, lying scumbag. I no longer desire him since a recent spiritual revelation. In fact we are now just good frinds with no desires. Its a spiritual rwconnection that is not about sex.

On the contrary. Your desires grow with you, and you express and use them in different ways. If we were to speak about sex. If you grow spiritually, sex becomes a form of reaching enlightenment as opposed to tension release. Desire is natural and beautiful, it is your raw and wonderful humanity at work, express it beautifully and you will have no issues with desire.
