Is this a possibility kinda scared

I'm thinking if we roll over easy, they'll go easier on us, but if we rise up fighting, they'll feel justified in going the way of a holocaust. There is supposed to be another alternative, our peaceful non-compliance, but I can't begin to understand what that even looks like. Any thoughts on how that could work?
