See how strong his belief is! His belief in the symbolism of the gun, not the actual possession of the weapon. He identifies with the symbolism inherent in the message, he will not be 'disarmed'. Freedom from perceived oppression.

Unfortunatley there are people who do not share this belief and view the symbolism inherent in the possesion of the weapon, not what the gun stands for. These will be the ones who will use them, not the former, as the former has an ideal to aspire to. The latter only has a reason, a much narrower perspective, therefore, has fewer options.

Disarment is perceived as taking something personal away, therefore, a direct threat to the autonomy of the individual.

I am upset about all the Con-Theories on Sandy Hook.
