It's not record temps, it's RECENT record temps. The media love to hype everything up, it makes the news shows more entertaining. Admitting temperatures have varied wildly throughout history (remembering oz only has 2 centuries of records) would not alarm the populous enough.

Anyway... The MSM are saying the hottest temp recorded in Australia - 50.7 degrees at Oodnadatta in South Australia on January 2, 1960.

And there is a possibility that could be broken...

So I'm not sure what you're talking about "maybe the last ten years". 1960 was a bit more than 10 years ago.

Great to get a mention from Frankie, been a real stinker here. Hobart recorded it's highest ever temp, 41 degrees, a lot of capitals were around the 40 degree mark (celcius). Sydney was slightly cooler than most other capitals, so he was a bit out there, but right for the country generally.

It was 41 here today. Someone from Hobart confirmed that it was hot enough there today to break the record.

And guess what dickhead... Global Warming is happening. Its not up for debate.

What is up for debate is WHY its happening and whether its man-made. I'd say no, its just a natural part of how this planet works and something our tiny human minds haven't managed to figure out yet.
