OP, sorry but you're logic is faltered. Do you not understand that God 'created' evolution?
 Quoting: mr_brightside74

No he created all species specific kinds for different roles in maintaining balance in his ecosystem. He create their DNA as a blueprint for exactly replicating themselves, not to invent new kinds that would cause imbalance;\
"And God went on to say: “Let the earth put forth living souls according to their kinds, domestic animal and moving animal and wild beast of the earth according to its kind.” And it came to be so. 25 And God proceeded to make the wild beast of the earth according to its kind and the domestic animal according to its kind and every moving animal of the ground according to its kind. And God got to see that [it was] good." Ge1:24

Well obviously crocodiles bit their noses every time they came to take a drink.

After kadrillions of crocodile bites, elephants had elastic snozzes and could pick stuff up with their sniffers.

Even today crocs are madder than hell that they helped elephants along inadvertently.

Pretty much the same process as this thread.

Something I was wondering about recently ... venomous snakes : they have a couple fangs, hollow like hypodermic needles, connected to poison glands, some of them can spit the venom out of their teeth ...

How did evolution and natural selection create all that equipment? And how long did it take? Millions of years? While poison glands and hollow teeth slowly evolved?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 30969028

Don't be silly, Its obvious that an old grey haired man shaped God sat down and rapidly designed about ten thousand different animals. Some dangerous just to keep Adam on his toes. Because Adam would have know about poisonous snakes wouldn't he.

Because an elephant also has a mouth. Presumably, so did it's ancestors.

Re: So Mr Darwin why didn't elephants go extinct from dehydration in the million years it took your evolution thingy to design their trunks chump?
To answer the question in the subject line...

..Because the Good Lord fucked up when He made these ones [link to www.fossil-treasures-of-florida.com] and nature had to take over - you know, survival of the fittest and all that?

The modern type elephants didn't die of dehydration because as you can see the process of 1.6 million years of evolution between the original God-made Gomphotheres and the modern nature-evolved African elephant has included smaller mouth parts and a longer trunk among other things. As the mouth parts evolved smaller, the trunks evolved longer, hence the ancestral elephant species which came after the Gomphotheres was still able to drink and eat grass and to shit - 3 basic individual survival requirements for any elephant-like critter.

You've got sour grapes because God's first attempt at the elephant wasn't resilient enough to survive unchanged into the modern era. Or was it?

The above is a theory borne out of various pieces of evidence including the fossil record and observation of modern elephant behaviors. It might not be perfect but it's a hundred percent more reliable than a series of old books which have been mistranslated over the last couple of thousand years and then twisted to suit the purposes of whichever power-hungry "Man of God" was in power at any given time.

You remind me of the Taliban - primitive fuckers who live in a small, small world. Fundamentalist religions may differ in their beliefs, but the WAY they believe is always the same.

What if - as I have aluded to above - Intelligent Design and Evolution are BOTH right? What if, God's design for an ancestral elephant species was so flawless and perfect that he built genetic adaptation right into them? That way, as the climate changed and food became more abundant or scarce as the case may have been, the elephant family of critters was able to genetically improvise, adapt and overcome and thus avoid extinction?

Of course the theory of Intelligently Designed Evolution won't work if you're one of those defective whackjobs on the fringes as a godless heathen or if you're a fundamentalist fuckstick who thinks the world is only 8,000 years old. In these cases, nothing anyone can say and no evidence anyone can show will be accepted. Luckily though, such fanatics, while vocal, have zero power over anyone but their poor emotionally abused families and that's how it should be.

Organisms have had digestive tracts (and an opening to this tract) for a very long time. How digestive tracts have changed in organization and complexity over time is well-documented (and really interesting).

Organisms without digestive tracts can also satisfy their nutritional needs using a variety of other strategies (absorption through the integument, endocytosis, etc).

I just imagine DGN thinking of new anti-Darwin rhetoric every other day, posting it here, having it completely demolished by anyone who understands the question at hand, and then eventually DGN sticking his fingers in his ears and repeating "lalalalala" whenever facts are posted.
Are you ever going to get sick of being proved wrong? Or is pretending you can't see the evidence against your logic the fun part?

Elephant babies are Elephants not an earlier evolutionary form. The elephant has evolved in scale. Why does the elephant have a trunk? because its social and because its hygenic also because of its mouth.
