More like 2017-2019. 1 Timothy 3:16 KJV And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. Isaiah 9:6 KJV For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Mark 16:16 KJV He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. Acts 2:38 KJV Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Romans 8:6-9 KJV 6) For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7) Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8) So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. 9) But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. Matthew 15:8-9 KJV 8) This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. 9) But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. Acts 5:29 KJV Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men. "The biggest sign from God, to let us all know that man can never be God? Death." - Anonymous |

A small asteroid that will pass between the Earth & Moon but will be closer to the Earth than the Moon, wont be able to see it unaided, it poses NO THREAD to us... I'm sure I heard this back in 2011. The boy who cried wolf anyone... A shepherd-boy, who watched a flock of sheep near a village, brought out the villagers three or four times by crying out, "Wolf! Wolf!" and when his neighbors came to help him, laughed at them for their pains. The Wolf, however, did truly come at last. The Shepherd-boy, now really alarmed, shouted in an agony of terror: "Pray, do come and help me; the Wolf is killing the sheep"; but no one paid any heed to his cries, nor rendered any assistance. The Wolf, having no cause of fear, at his leisure lacerated or destroyed the whole flock. There is no believing a liar, even when he speaks the truth. The lesson you should have learned from that story is to not cry wolf when there is no wolf. Clearly that lesson has not been learned, even after 2005 YU55 safely passed us exactly as scientists (myself included) predicted it would. This is yet another example of a false wolf. On February 15th it will miss us, guaranteed. Worst case scenario it could take out a satellite, but it's extremely unlikely that it would even do that: There's no reason to be crying wolf about this thing, it just further degrades the credibility of those who do. |

Halcyon Dayz, FCD User ID: 31033756 Netherlands 01/04/2013 11:20 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | That very much depends of the specifics of this passage. Certainly a "watch closely" object. Look at distance on chart on 2013-Feb-15 19:25, compared since 1918 Quoting: wise1 From 1926 to 1996 Where did it go ??? Tv guy said it comes twice a year - BS!! [link to ssd.jpl.nasa.gov] They didn't image the whole sky every night back then. And it is small. And, as the name implies, it was discovered in 2012. The old sightings were discovered on old plates by calculating the orbit backwards. It wasn't recognised as an asteroid back then. By moving. Everything in the solar system is in its own orbit. The distances between them change all the time. Smaller objects are easily perturbed and have their orbit changed. As this flyby will. umm ok they apparently know the mass of the object but have no idea of trajectory?? that is scary my fellow islander Since they predicted this encounter more then a year in advance they certainly have an idea of the trajectory. The issue is what will its orbit be after this flyby. If you dip that deep into a gravity well a difference of a few hundred metres can have a large effect on where it will go. No risk to hit but if there was any it will be equivalent to exploding 2-3 megaton nuclear bomb. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 31470561 how do come up with that sum? you don't know the mass so it could be a 500meg or more. We do know how large it is. One would presume it is not denser than iron. But it's not going to hit. This time. is that is 14.000 miles from earth and between the sats we going get flak Quoting: Anonymous Coward 20217625 It is. A collision with a satellite is the greatest risk from this passage. Search: Kessler Syndrome. Not as if the people who read the MPC telegrams didn't already know. You can't classify the sky. Of course it does. If Earth had zero mass it wouldn't have gotten this close. At a relative speed of 7.8 km/s if moves to fast to be captured. This time. Dr. Astro Senior Forum Moderator User ID: 4211721 United States 01/04/2013 11:25 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Well I could spend weeks trying to teach a course on celestial mechanics, but in short, it's traveling above earth's escape velocity and its trajectory does not bring it close enough to earth to experience atmospheric drag, let alone impact. Earth's gravity will affect its orbit, but it will not "pull it in." |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 31341153 United Kingdom 01/04/2013 11:30 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | it won't hit, but what a fantastic way to go though, especially with a biggie. imagine being far enough away to watch a huge fireball go down over the horizon, then see a huge flash, all happening in total silence, then have a wonderful light show over your head, as the ejecta starts re-entering at the top of the atmosphere. still silent. then, in the distance, you see it, a thin, black line. you wonder what it is, you joke with it to your fellow stunned observers. then it gets a little bit thicker, then a bit thicker, then BANG, the blast wave hits you, and sends you hurtling back, 100, 200 feet, tumbling over and over. You look around, everyone's dead, gone, but you made it, SOMEHOW, you made it. You feel a tremendous sense of relief, gloating even, at the mangled remains of the ones that didn't make it, ner ner, you think, but THEN, you look up. 'Oh yeah, FUCK!' you think. that think black line is now taking up half the sky, and is boiling, roiling, tumbling, and now you can HEAR it as well. It is a terrifying sound. You look around for shelter, desperately, but realise there's none. You see a rabbit scurry down a hole, 'lucky bastard!' you shout at it! You stand there, transfixed at this wave of doom about to engulf you, and just before it does, you have a little laugh to yourself, as a warm stream of urine warms your legs nicely. It hits you. fin! (ps, this works for Yellowstone too! that wave will travel a bit slower though. You may even have time for a little faeces/leg interaction as well! ) don't yank it too hard now, all you doomgasmers! |
