CA lawyer gifts fully furnished house to homeless family for a YEAR rent free!!
A one-time hotshot entertainment lawyer gave up his fully-furnished Los Angeles house so a homeless family can live there for an entire year — for free.
It’s an act of generosity that Tony Tolbert, now a professor at UCLA’s School of Law, says is just the right thing to do.
"You don't have to be a billionaire to do something good for someone else," Tolbert told the Daily News.
“A lot of us have something to offer that can help make a contribution to someone else’s life,” he said. “A lot of us forget that we can actually make a difference.”
Last week, Tolbert moved back home with his mom, where the altruism all began.
Growing up, his father always lent the family's spare bedroom to someone in need.
“I honestly can’t remember a span where there wasn’t some non-family member living with us,” he said. “It planted the seed that that’s something you do, take care of other people who are in a position where help is needed.”

Tolbert's dad is now suffering from Alzheimer's disease and lives in a nearby nursing home, but the lessons he taught his son stuck.
The 51-year-old has also been studying Tibetan Buddhism, which he says encourages him to be generous.
“A big fundamental concept [of buddhism] is creating karma by doing good,” he said.
Tolbert found Felicia Dukes through a local shelter. She was broke and struggling to support her four children - the eldest who wasn't even allowed to stay at the shelter, which was only for women and children.
The shelter explained Tolbert's offer to Dukes.
"They had a young man that wanted to donate their house to you for a year," she recalled to CBS News. "And I'm looking at her, like, what? Like - Are you serious?"
At Tolbert's home, Duke's family could be together again, and get back on their feet. They moved i Dec. 29.
"My heart just fills up," she said after unpacking the boxes. "I'm just really happy."
Tolbert hopes the gift encourages others to pay it forward and gives Dukes’ children “a stable place to be what they want to be.”
“I imagine having a place you can call home for a year will make things more solid,” he said.
Meanwhile, Tolbert is getting comfortable at home with mom.
“She thinks it’s cool,” he said. “I haven’t lived at home in 30 years. It’s nice to reconnect.”

“Kindness creates kindness. Generosity creates generosity. Love creates love,” Tolbert said. ”And I think if we can share some of that and have more stories about people doing nice things for other people, and fewer stories about people doing horrible things to other people, that’s a better world.”

Near my house there's four empty houses....they have been empty for years. I wish I could buy them and give them to homeless and those living in motels. They are nice but were lost in the real estate downfall and they are in some sort of limbo. Man if I could win the lottery the good I could do.

Yeah, blacks do stuff like this for other blacks from time to time. Because the understand what living while being ground down with nothing is all about.

They also are very good automobile drivers (the male ones).

So now I said two truthful things about blacks, that could be taken in a good light,

This still does not make up for all of the Rapes, and Murders, and Robberies, and thefts, and breaking and enterings, and home invasion robberies, and car jackings, and drug dealing, and generaly just being a nusance in society.

But the above two decent things are true.
