You don't hear women bitching that "oh just because our rights were restricted at the time, we think the Bill of Rights is SEXIST and therefore shouldn't apply to anybody today." This is exactly the convoluted type of reasoning taught by Saul Alinsky's radical bunch of communist scum. Last Edited by Ralph--a house dog on 01/04/2013 07:07 PM "Who decides?" ---Robert A. Quoting: Ralph--a house dog Taking about historical discrimination against blacks has not a damn thing to do with today's attempts at gun control. The 2nd Amendment points out that everyone has the right to bear arms and although blacks were excluded from this and many other things such as equality of education, housing, credit, etc THEY AREN'T NOW and that includes their right to firearms. There are a couple of youtubes you should watch that explains both the history of such discrimination of the right to bear arms and THE FERVENT DESIRE OF BLACK PEOPLE TODAY TO RETAIN THIS RIGHT AND NOT HAVE IT TAKEN FROM THEM. Here's a comment on the youtube page: Gun control is people control and racist and elitist at its very heart. Gun control is about making sure that only the powerful and the wealthy have the wherewithall to control the masses. Whether that means armed KKK members threatening unarmed Blacks or the racist Washington DC government telling public housing residents that they cannot protect themselves from thugs, gun control further subjugates and victimizes those without power. Gun control -- keeping the people down for two hundred years. For the last 5 minutes of Part 1 (first part is history of discrimination)and for most of the 5 minute long Part 2, the black commentators are saying the same things every other 2nd Amendment supporter is saying right now! good post. Victim disarmament has always been about who holds the power. |

Gun-control advocates often cite the gun violence in urban areas, and the alarming murder rate among black people, especially young black males, as justification for gun bans. It is harder, however, for them to claim they are helping black people when they continue to die anyway because the criminals obtain guns regardless of the law, and law-abiding citizens are effectively disarmed by the government that is sworn to keep them safe. Mr. McDonald knows he cannot depend on the police to defend him or his home, so he declares, "That's all I want, is just a fighting chance. Give me the opportunity to at least make somebody think about something before they come in my house on me." The new face of gun rights in America is an elderly black man who wants to protect his family and his private property, earned through decades of hard work and sacrifice. His is a quintessentially American story about the individual defense of liberty and property, the core purpose of the Second Amendment, and his name is now in the history books, forever associated with this major ruling." ---From "Blacks with Guns" [link to gunowners.org] "Arguing with a leftist is like playing chess with a pigeon. You might be misunderstanding the comment, although I'm not 100% sure. I think the poster means that yes, gun control is elitist and discriminatory and that it is racist, too. It was used in the past to deny blacks the right to bear arms, and from the video I saw that even in more recent times some localities can arbitrarily pick and choose who they want to allow to have a gun permit and that blacks have often been denied permits for no good reason while others get them. Just like California and New York and Chicago etc do right now---only the very rich or important elites can have gun permits; NOBODY else can. Ordinary decent black people who live in or near high crime areas cannot defend themselves against criminals in places that have gun bans. (Neither can anybody else for that matter) This creates what is called a 'disparate effect' on them, as people who do not live high crime areas suffer less violence and crime even though they too are unarmed. Law abiding blacks today who are able to exercise their 2nd Amendment rights are just as concerned as anyone else that a bunch of communist leaning elitists want to disarm them.
