If Jesus Is God or Co-Equal to God Then Why...
When Jesus Died on the cross and took on the sins of mankind did God the Father have to turn away and not look at his son because he is to HOLY to look upon sin, but yet Jesus could not only look upon sin but also take on all sin of mankind and it be nailed to the cross with him ?

And then again the question arises, if Jesus is God or Co equal to God The Father, Why does the bible tell us that no man knows the day nor the hour of his return not even the SON but only God The FATHER if Jesus is God or equal to his Father?

BTW Im not a JW or claim any "religion" Just a Followr of the Gospel is all

This is an excellent question. I, by no means, have all knowledge, but here is a little of what I have gleaned from my relationship with The Lord.

God is represented by three things, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. They are all one. We are created in the image of God, and that mirror image is our soul, flesh and spirit. We are obviously one person, just as the Godhead is one, but we have three distinct branches of who we are.. Our flesh has to be crucified, just as God's flesh was crucified for our sins. Our flesh, which is represented by Jesus, MUST take the backseat to our soul by which our born again spirit gives life.

Yeah, still a little confusing for me, the aspects of the soul and spirit specifically, but in a nutshell, we are inter dimensional creatures. Just as Jesus (the flesh) said that the Father was greater than he, so too is our soul and spirit greater than our flesh.

Re: If Jesus Is God or Co-Equal to God Then Why...
Don't know but found this explanation.

As a man, Jesus cooperated with the limitations of being a man. That is why we have verses like Luke 2:52 that says "Jesus kept increasing in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men." Therefore, at this point in his ministry he could say He did not know the day nor hour of His return. It is not a denial of His being God, but a confirmation of Him being man.

Also, the logic that Jesus could not be God because He did not know all things works both ways. If we could find a scripture where Jesus does know all things, then that would prove that He was God, wouldn't it?

He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of John, do you love Me?" Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, "Do you love Me?" And he said to Him, "Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You." Jesus said to him, "Tend My sheep" (John 21:17 - NASB).

Jesus did not correct Peter and say, "Hold on Peter, I do not know all things." He let Peter continue on with his statement that Jesus knew all things. Therefore, it must be true.

But, if we have a verse that says that Jesus did not know all things and another that says he did know all things, then isn't that a contradiction? No. It is not.

Before Jesus' crucifixion and resurrection He said the Father alone knew the day and hour of His return. It wasn't until after Jesus' crucifixion and resurrection that omniscience is attributed to Jesus. As I said before, Jesus was cooperating with the limitations of being a man and completed His ministry on this earth. He was then glorified in His resurrection. Yet, He was still a man (cf. Col. 2:9; 1 Tim. 2:5). After Jesus' resurrection, He was able to appear and disappear at will. This is not the normal ability of a man. But, it is, apparently, the normal ability of a resurrected and glorified man. Jesus was different after the resurrection.

A. The language "cannot look on sin" is a figure of speech and anthropomorphic. It means He hates sin and will not allow it.

A. There are several logical explanations.

Jesus was not talking about the day and hour of His return but the preceding verse mentions when "heaven and earth will pass away". Jesus reigns for a 1000 years, then the great white throne judgment happens and then Jesus delivers the kingdom to His Father. In Revelation, the heavens and earth passing away occurs after Jesus puts down all authorities on earth with His saints.

1Co 15:24 Then comes the end, when he delivers the kingdom to God the Father after destroying every rule and every authority and power.

Rev 21:1 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more.

Only the Father knows because within the Godhead relationship the Father has His distinct role and personality and had not unveiled his plan to Jesus yet because Jesus hadn't fulfilled His role at that time. The love relationship between the Father, Son and Spirit is an eternal relationship.

The Father gives Jesus a kingdom. Jesus gives the kingdom back to the Father and The Holy Spirit glorifies and loves them by helping accomplish the goals. The Godhead existed before any of us and the mystery of Their divine relationship is surely unfathomable and beyond our full grasp.

Also, Jesus' role had limited himself to sharing a human nature. He learned, he grew and finally ascended to once again be with the Father. He was fully God and Man and revealed both natures. He was hungry, sleepy, cried and suffered pain.

Php 2:7 but made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.

Heb 5:8 Although he was a son, he learned obedience through what he suffered.

Joh 20:17 Jesus said to her, "Do not cling to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to my brothers and say to them, 'I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.'"

Heb 1:8 But of the Son He says, "Your throne, O God, is forever and ever, the scepter of uprightness is the scepter of your kingdom.

Great answer, may I add, in context of your question; the trinity, the three persons, the three personalities are for US not for God. We have a tough time taking in the infinite. Whittling the concept down to three aspects helps our linear minds take in the concept of God. God the Director, Jesus the Administrator, Holy Spirit the Facilitator

hf Great answer! In the Book of Revelation it says no one is worthy to open the book of 7 seals except for the lamb of God - Jesus. Why is he worthy? Because he had to live as a man and be subject to every temptation we are, feel hunger, pain etc. and yet overcome sin all the days of his 33 years. God the Father is a spirit, where as Jesus is 100% God but also 100% man. It isn't the easiest thing for us to understand, it is complex even as we are. We are God's tabernacle - outer court (body), inner court (mind/ emotions/ personality) and holy of holies (the breath of life, God's holy spirit in us).

1 Thess 5:23 (KJV) - 23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

See the 3 in 1?

1 John 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

God is also three in one, and we are made in his image, halleluyah.
Matt 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

Psalm 119:165 Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.

Amos 8:11  Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD:

Ruth 1:1 Now it came to pass in the days when the judges ruled, that there was a famine in the land.

Jesus could open the scroll because He is High Priest to mankind and the King of Kings. The first seal is God and the Holy Spirit and Christ is the method used in those final prophecies. His 7 pairs of eyes is the 7 appearances He makes in Revelation. This is also a reference to Him in relation to the 1st seal vision.

Isa:49:2:
And he hath made my mouth like a sharp sword;
in the shadow of his hand hath he hid me,
and made me a polished shaft;
in his quiver hath he hid me;

Man is two parts rather than 3. Even husband and wife are shown to be a model after God and the Holy Spirit.

Ge:1:26:
And God said,
Let us make man in our image,
after our likeness:
and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea,
and over the fowl of the air,
and over the cattle,
and over all the earth,
and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
Ge:1:27:
So God created man in his own image,
in the image of God created he him;
male and female created he them.

Ge:2:7:
And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground,
and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life;
and man became a living soul.

Ec:3:20:
All go unto one place;
all are of the dust,
and all turn to dust again.
Ec:12:7:
Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was:
and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

Re: If Jesus Is God or Co-Equal to God Then Why...
Listen, the bible says Jesus is the son of God. He isn't God. They are father and son.

1Jn 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

Now go check the history of 1 John 5:7 ...

Re: If Jesus Is God or Co-Equal to God Then Why...
No where in the Bible does Jesus say "I am GOD", but he definitely says he is the "son of Man".

People will quote

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

BUT why would it be said in such a weird way?

Why wouldn't John,(a mere man), just have said

"In the beginning was our Lord Jesus, and Jesus was with God, and the Jesus was God."

But Jesus was quite clear on this issue when he said the following.

Jesus said "Mark 10:18 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.

Why the obvious separation between Jesus and GOD in Jesus' own words?

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him (GOD) should not perish, but have everlasting life.

It is very clear that the him is GOD who sent Jesus ... NOT Jesus, as it is proven in John 5:24!

John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

And remember Jesus said

John 5:37 And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape.

JESUS explicitly says no man has heard GODS voice or seen his shape at anytime! Jesus said this directly to people. He was in front of them.

PLUS this is proven by other verses

YET GOD allegedly said

Exodus 33:20 And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall NO MAN SEE ME, and live.

AND JESUS allegedly said

John 1:18 NO MAN HAS SEEN GOD AT ANY TIME, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

AND Jesus also said

John 20:17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.

Why would he have said these things if he was GOD?

Why would believers ignore Jesus' explicit words on this topic and deliberately misinterpret them?
