It is as simple as that, their choice, leave me alone or suffer the consequences. Quoting: Desert Fox Yah but those guys from VA tech who said that every student should have a gun were exaggerating ... that would be an awful idea imo Young lady, from someone old enough to be your mother, you have some more research to do before you have an opinion on this subject. You're just spouting off things others have said to you. Think for yourself. That's part of what this discussion is all about. But don't you think it would be dangerous if students had guns? They should at least give them some kind of psychologic test first. No, I don't think it would be. I know many college students that own guns and they are very responsible people. The nutjobs are the people that will find a way to get weapons, whether they are legal or not. That is a proven fact. I DO think the fact that you don't feel mature enough to own a firearm, is a good start toward maturity. Just do your own homework. Don't repeat what you hear, be informed and make up your own mind. |

Owning and using a weapon is serious business, NEVER take it lightly. Many people have been killed because they were committing another crime and carrying a toy gun. The cops thought it was real. ALWAYS assume a gun is REAL. This isn't like the class with the crying, toy baby. It's very real and can end a life in a second. |

It's a tool, but it needs to be used with respect. If you're taught properly, there is next to no chance you'll shoot yourself. THAT would have to be intentional. The point of learning gun safety is to prevent that from happening. Well, I've always wanted to use the riffle Do you drive a car? Think of learning gun safety like learning how to drive. You didn't know anything about making that 1 ton vehicle do what you wanted it to do until someone taught you. A car is a weapon that kills too, but you learned how to use it responsibly. Learning how to use a gun is the same thing. Both are tools. In the wrong hands, they will hurt or kill someone. With the right training, they are used correctly and safely. |
