VIDEO: FIRST LINE OF DEFENSE IS YOU and YOUR GUN | |
Barbara P. Strigoi User ID: 12915447 Puerto Rico 01/05/2013 03:05 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Someone will bury you. The point of learning gun safety is to prevent that from happening. Well, I've always wanted to use the riffle Do you drive a car? Think of learning gun safety like learning how to drive. You didn't know anything about making that 1 ton vehicle do what you wanted it to do until someone taught you. A car is a weapon that kills too, but you learned how to use it responsibly. Learning how to use a gun is the same thing. Both are tools. In the wrong hands, they will hurt or kill someone. With the right training, they are used correctly and safely. Well... I have a car and I know how to drive it but i get nervous ... i only drive it when it's necessary .... or when i'm in college. |

I really liked the elderly couple story, they are victimized lots in society and definitely would benefit from being armed. 5*s. |
Desert Fox (OP) User ID: 8786935 United States 01/05/2013 02:50 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | ... Quoting: Barbara P. Strigoi Yah but those guys from VA tech who said that every student should have a gun were exaggerating ... that would be an awful idea imo Young lady, from someone old enough to be your mother, you have some more research to do before you have an opinion on this subject. You're just spouting off things others have said to you. Think for yourself. That's part of what this discussion is all about. But don't you think it would be dangerous if students had guns? They should at least give them some kind of psychologic test first. No, I don't think it would be. I know many college students that own guns and they are very responsible people. The nutjobs are the people that will find a way to get weapons, whether they are legal or not. That is a proven fact. I DO think the fact that you don't feel mature enough to own a firearm, is a good start toward maturity. Just do your own homework. Don't repeat what you hear, be informed and make up your own mind. Great advice but probably falling on deaf ears. :TOMABANEFOX: It's more humane this way ya know, or burn on totem pole. Choice is yours. |

geminilion User ID: 12895036 United States 01/05/2013 06:47 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | ... Quoting: Texan Buckeye Hey Desert Fox. I watched the video. I've been thinking about this for awhile and I've come up with a couple of ideas. I think people have been dumbed down SO much, they don't even believe in themselves, let alone others. People don't believe that others are still honorable, sensible, and are not running around like characters in a video game. Just because one owns a firearm, doesn't mean one is running around just looking for someone to shoot. We live out in the sticks, with coyotes that like to come right up to the door, poisonous snakes, big cats (not the kitteh type!LOL), feral pigs, strange people that may or may not be harmless, and a very large county with few deputies. Our nearest neighbor is about a mile away. The only people I can count on live right here. The law is just too far away, usually. I know almost all of them, they are good guys and I trust them. They just can't get here soon enough to help. I grew up with guns in the house, but I didn't learn to shoot until I was 19. I'll never go to Camp Perry for the rifle matches, but I will hit whatever I'm aiming for. The first thing I learned as a child was never point the toy guns at anyone and later, never draw your weapon unless you intend to use it. Too many people have learned to like the taste of kool-aid and have forgotten their roots. Well stated my friend. Sounds like me, except I am an expert shot. If it's not a video game, many are lost. They no longer know reality, never the less live it. That's it. They're all living in a fantasy world. BTW, I used to be a better shot before bifocals! That darn little line keeps getting in the way! Seriously though, I am concerned about all the gun grab talk. I can't imagine having to deal with an attacking animal with a slingshot. I guess I better start practicing. I have maintained my skills since Vietnam. Still have good eyes and will never give up my guns. Never. What part of country do you live in? First off I want to thank you for your service. My brother had a lot of guns so I know how to shoot, it's been awhile though. I am pro-gun all the way. How hard is it to understand if the gov. takes guns away from law abiding citizens it would leave us defenseless and sitting ducks for the scum that have them. I don't have a firearm..it's pretty hard to get one in NY. My son is looking to buy, I really have no advice to give him on what he should be looking at. Wanted to add...something really horrible happened to me years ago and if I had a gun I would have had a chance to defend myself, I am lucky to be alive. Long range, 223s are nice. Any rifle that will fire NATO ammo. If your are in cramped neighborhood I would be looking hard. Shit is going to hit the fan in the future, it has too.
