so many ignorant people in media/news need to be arrested. they have crossed the line far too many times IMO.

honestly, a lot of fucking people need to be arrested.
 Quoting: SteamrolledGobias

Never heard of freedom of the press?

Names and addresses are public information, as are PERMITS issued by the Government, unless expressly private.

When you ask for YOUR rights to be protected, you cannot violate the rights of others.

Public access is public access.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 31297288

Understood. We're not arguing for such things to be against the law(at least I'm not) but just because something CAN be done legally does not mean it SHOULD be done.

With rights comes responsibility, and I just wish the people who released these names had a little of it.
 Quoting: KonspiracyKitty

Responsibility? Again, you make a contract, read the fine print, unless there is something there to protect the information given voluntarily by the permit holders then there is NO expectation of privacy.

These people want to have concealed carry permits and are too irresponsible to read and comprehend a contract with the State?

THAT is the bigger issue in all this.

Be careful if you are ever buying a house in the area. Especially if it was owned by a CO or LEO.

I've seen cases in the news where a drug dealer sold their (pimped out and therefore recognizable) car and the new owners were targeted and shot.

Inmates and criminals might not keep up on the fact that it's no longer the guard's residence, but YOURS. They are just going by the list in their hand, and sometimes they have someone on the outside take their revenge for them so this could happen SOON. And if I were a prison guard with my address just published, my family would be moved out TODAY and my house would be on the market, just sayin'. That information is usually kept super confidential.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 27352798

Scary shit! I've known people who work in the court system and they are very careful to keep their phone and residence under the radar, for good reason.

You spell out some more sinister possible repercussions of this.
"How can the breakaway civilization operate with impunity? There is a vast secrecy about outer space and inner space. Inner space is consciousness. Eight billion people have to have their inner space shut down, through mind control, so that the outer space program can be kept secret.

Divorcing inner and outer space from each other is the core goal of all elites. It always has been. My commitment is to ending the divorce. Then we would be privy to an astounding kind of knowledge. Not just new information, but a new kind of information. We would see with new eyes." - Jon Rappoport

Law enforcement officials from a New York region where a local paper published a map identifying gun owners say prisoners are using the information to intimidate guards.

Rockland County Sheriff Louis Falco, who spoke at a news conference flanked by other county officials, said the Journal News' decision to post an online map of names and addresses of handgun owners Dec. 23 has put law enforcement officers in danger.

"They have inmates coming up to them and telling them exactly where they live. That's not acceptable to me," Falco said, according to Newsday.

Robert Riley, an officer with the White Plains Police Department and president of its Patrolman’s Benevolent Association, agreed.

Nobody suing the newspaper? that seems to me breaking the laws on privacy. even in cases of pedophiles most of them get to live anonymously.. wtf
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 938403

I don't know about every state but in NY the names and address of sex offender are online. When I checked my area and the area of friends and relatives, it's shocking just how many sex offenders live within a few blocks. They show their photo, address and crime.

Obviously, that is a good thing. Publishing names and addresses of innocent gun owners is a very bad thing. There needs to be laws against it.

No, you're just easily scared. Life isn't a television program. There is no percentage in going after a guards family. "Oh, they could blackmail a guard!" Except that in real life, if they tried, they'd only lose from doing it.

Do you really think criminals thing about the consequences to themselves? If they did, they wouldn't be criminals to begin with.

Hey pal. Your only a 'criminal' when the 'law' says your a criminal.

So, by that logic, Gun owners are about to become 'criminals' because the law is about to say they are.

What's the difference in calling someone who smokes a joint and sits home reading a book vs. a gun owner a criminal? Seriously? What makes one better than the other?

Answer = Because it's written on some mundane piece of paper as being a crime.

Sorry, but by continuing to support the generalized term 'criminal' to apply to ANYONE that does anything against what some mundane set of 50,000 America Laws written on paper say, you continue to degrade humanity.

It's really hard to feel sorry for idiots like you who are about to experience the hammer of what 1/3 of the population has been feeling for the past 40 years. An oppressive police state where you are a 'criminal' because some shithead with a piece of paper and a badge says you are. Not because you harmed anyone.

Wow...

So this is...

Really not an issue, is it? Guards being threatened by inmates? How many? What proof do we have that this story even happened? How did the inmates get a hold of the information? Did they write it down? Memorize it?

No, we're being told that this happened and that it's a threat. Let's all be scared because people know where armed people live? I thought the point of gun ownership was to make people like that think twice about giving you problems?

Think about it.

This is a none issue, made up to control how you think.
