Quoting: SteamrolledGobias honestly, a lot of fucking people need to be arrested. Never heard of freedom of the press? Names and addresses are public information, as are PERMITS issued by the Government, unless expressly private. When you ask for YOUR rights to be protected, you cannot violate the rights of others. Public access is public access. Understood. We're not arguing for such things to be against the law(at least I'm not) but just because something CAN be done legally does not mean it SHOULD be done. With rights comes responsibility, and I just wish the people who released these names had a little of it. Responsibility? Again, you make a contract, read the fine print, unless there is something there to protect the information given voluntarily by the permit holders then there is NO expectation of privacy. These people want to have concealed carry permits and are too irresponsible to read and comprehend a contract with the State? THAT is the bigger issue in all this. |

Especially if it was owned by a CO or LEO. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 27352798 I've seen cases in the news where a drug dealer sold their (pimped out and therefore recognizable) car and the new owners were targeted and shot. Inmates and criminals might not keep up on the fact that it's no longer the guard's residence, but YOURS. They are just going by the list in their hand, and sometimes they have someone on the outside take their revenge for them so this could happen SOON. And if I were a prison guard with my address just published, my family would be moved out TODAY and my house would be on the market, just sayin'. That information is usually kept super confidential. Scary shit! I've known people who work in the court system and they are very careful to keep their phone and residence under the radar, for good reason. You spell out some more sinister possible repercussions of this. |

More at [link to www.foxnews.com] Nobody suing the newspaper? that seems to me breaking the laws on privacy. even in cases of pedophiles most of them get to live anonymously.. wtf I don't know about every state but in NY the names and address of sex offender are online. When I checked my area and the area of friends and relatives, it's shocking just how many sex offenders live within a few blocks. They show their photo, address and crime. Obviously, that is a good thing. Publishing names and addresses of innocent gun owners is a very bad thing. There needs to be laws against it. ______________ As long as I am an American citizen and American blood runs in these veins I shall hold myself at liberty to speak, to write, and to publish whatever I please on any subject.” - Elijah Parish Lovejoy(1802-1837) All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent...Thomas Jefferson The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government...Thomas Jefferson When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty...Thomas Jefferson Truth will ultimately prevail where there is pains to bring it to light...George Washington |

So, by that logic, Gun owners are about to become 'criminals' because the law is about to say they are. What's the difference in calling someone who smokes a joint and sits home reading a book vs. a gun owner a criminal? Seriously? What makes one better than the other? Answer = Because it's written on some mundane piece of paper as being a crime. Sorry, but by continuing to support the generalized term 'criminal' to apply to ANYONE that does anything against what some mundane set of 50,000 America Laws written on paper say, you continue to degrade humanity. Threaten a guard and your ass is in the hole for 6 months with another 10 guards who will daily stick their clubs up your ass so they make sure you don't do it again and others do not follow suit. turn your tv off dude. Just pick up the little black thing with buttons on it and look for the one that says 'off'.press said button. that is all. I have been to jail and prison. These facts are not from TV. Sure, you can threaten them all you want, but you better believe they will get you back and attempt to curb your threats with various attitude adjustment techniques such as the hole and beat downs. It is a dog eat dog and very dark world for everyone that walks through the gates of a prison regardless if it is a job or a conviction for a crime. No surprise there...bet you have tattoos also...trash :tattoosarepretty: I never forgive and I never forget I am a licensed firearm holder.
