That is actually a great guitar. I had a 1970's model, great guitar it always stayed in tune.

Guild 1957 x50 through a 66 Fender Vibro Champ

Epiphone Casino hollowbody electric and a Vox Valvetronix modeling amp which can reproduce almost any amps sound. I have a Strat I pull out on occasion, but my Casino plays smoother than any guitar I've owned.

Big ole Conn 12 string acoustic that rings like a bell and sounds like an angel playing a harp.

That and an old Fender Telly.

If you really want tone on the cheap, here's your set-up:

Guitar into computer, line-in into Amplitude plugin, line out to PA.

Stack a bunch of empty cabinets on stage to show you still rock.

With just two clicks I had exactly the sound I wanted to have, having fought for years trying to achieve it with real pedals and things.

Which program are you using tho? I have thought about the computer as well, but I would rather play without too much money & setting up.

I agree, I have gear from them and ZZounds. The two are actually who I buy from, not really anyone else. Great gear!

BTW, I do not own one yet, but played through the Rogue 2x12 amp, freaking awesome!

I run an Ibanez rg470 b&w swirl with late 70's Schecter nickel plated humbuckers in bridge and neck pos, and an original seymour duncan hot rail in the middle.

I also have late 70's original Schecter strat type body(heavy as sin), with mighty mite 50's style strat v-neck. Fender hot noiseless pickups neck and mid, with pearly gates humbucker in the bridge.

I plug into a line 6 floor pod and go direct into PA when needed, and just throw on the headphones when wanting silence around me. You can get these things pretty cheap used on c-list.

I also have the connector thingy for my iphone and run amplitude app through my phone.

My point is, find a cheap guitar and bastardize the hell out of it to het the dream axe you've always wanted.

Also, get a line 6 pod xt live and run it through the effects loop in the back of yer amp, bypasses all tone controls on the front of yer amp and you can dial in whatever models you have loaded in yer xt.

I run mine through a fender red knob dual showman with behringer 4x12 slant.

Let me ask you, have you melted wax on the pickups? I used to do this with my pickups & tubes...but just curious.

fender AM STD tele through a 1964 vibro champ.

that's my minimum. i got LOTS more.

Schecters are already potted, and no need on fender hot noiseless.

I take my hands off at full volume and silent as a flea fart.

For older pups it is a good idea and have done it in the past. Smoothens out the tone as well as quietens the beast. Dip em right into the pot, that way gets into all the knooks and crannies.

My first electric was a 1967 Gibson SG Standard....I pawned it for $100. my mom nearly killed me. My biggest mistake.

I've played with Gibson, Fenders & other non brand name guitars...but, my Dean has passed every test, I do miss my Fender Squier...I had a cheap Korean Squier that I put Texas Specials into, that was my favorite. My ex-girlfriend sold it for $50. bucks. Anyway, if you are good...you can make a plank of wood with barbed wire sound good.

if I want a marshall distortion I use the govner
with the rectifier`s clean channel 1(sounds great)

turn off the gov`ner and I have clean.

channel 3 on the dual rectifier gives me nice screaming lead tone.
and channel two on the dual rectifer if I want that dual rectifier
metal distortion.

best of boogie and marshall tones in one simple rig.

This is actually a good way to gig but there are some technical issues I have had at a few gigs doing it this way and you have to adjust everything again if you are using someone else's P.A. system.

The is an alternative to this method. A Peavey classic 30 you can pick for anywhere from $250 to $350 and even some classic 50's as well for around $350 if you think you need the extra power. And get used gear from the GC website. All you need is the Delta lab tube overdrive $20 and a wah for around $50 and an Digitech digidelay for around $40 bucks and your set.

But I'm a tone junkie so my rig consist of a Peavey JSX 2x12 an MXR equalizer and a TC electronic flashback delay and a Bogner ectasy blue overdrive pedal.
