Where do smilies come from?

From mommy and daddy smilies or the smilie stork.

why would I post the question if I knew? I know how to get one, put a word between colons but I don't know how it works from there. And I don't understand how to "share" smilies.

Go up to the custom smiley link on the top left and go to town.

Look on the upper left area of your screen where is says "Custom Smilies".

Start there.
you will figure it out from there.

ha ha, I'm serious, OK, so I go to custom smilies, it says you can't use :'s etc. That's the only way I know how to get them. I still have no clue as to where do they come from?

No, I'm not trolling, but apparently this is a stupid question that no one can or cares to answer so I'll just stop.

from a glp data base or the internet?

Say you find a cool picture on the internets.

Save the picture to your computer.

Go to the smily link up on left like you've been told.

Upload the picture, making sure it's within the parameters of size limitations and such.

A mod will look to see if the pic is suitable to go into the smily database and confirm/deny it.

If mod confirms the picture, then you can use it whenever. You name it while uploading it, :coolpicturefrominternet: for example.

Then anyone can use it.

Thank you!! So then I assume when I'm doing the two colons with random words between that I am fishing the glp database of smilies!!!! Like if someone randomly put the name lily between two colons they would fish and land this...

Thank you, I was only ever able to upload a pic of my dog I had in my pictures file as my one and only smilie. I will try to do the internet version. Thanks for your help, I think I got it figured out now.

they are contained here, in our little corner of these internets...I am not an Astrobiologist, dropped out of the program 6 credits shy, so I can't be 100% certain...but yeah, I keep an ear to the ground..

You can use pictures from anything, it doesn't have to be from the internet. Pics from your phone, camera, usb drive. They just need to be uploaded from your pc to glp.

You could draw a picture in mspaint and upload it if you want.

I think she does! UCE, you remind me of my 9th grade algebra teacher, he'd put the problem and a two line solution on the board without saying a word, then turn around and go, OK, now you do it kids! Thank God for tutors.

He gave you a clue and way to get started....the rest is intended for you to use your brain to figure out the solution.

Alas....unfortunately cognitive / logical reasoning seems to be a MASSIVE FAIL these days.
People have to be led by the hand to the solution before they understand what is going on.
