Right now only citizens and morons who got Social security cards pay taxes Do away with the IRS and you save big money. Then you bring in all the parasites who are not paying taxes. everyone has to buy things. So you get the illegal Mexicans to pay taxes, the drug dealers, the mafia, and even people visiting the U.S. help out. That would lower taxes for everyone. . House GOP seeks to abolish IRS, replace income tax with consumption taxBy Pete Kasperowicz - 01/04/13 03:34 PM ET Fifty-four House Republicans on Thursday reintroduced legislation that would terminate the IRS and replace the system of income taxes on people and corporations with a consumption tax. The FairTax Act, from Rep. Rob Woodall (R-Ga.), would abolish the 16th Amendment, which was ratified 100 years ago this February. That amendment gives Congress the power to impose income taxes without having to spend the revenues evenly among the states. Woodall's bill, H.R. 25, would replace the current tax system with a 23 percent consumption tax on all new goods and services. He said Thursday that this change would eliminate the need for a complicated tax code, and would be the kind of tax reform that helps reinvigorate the economy. Read more: [ link to thehill.com] |

A 23% consumption tax would encourage people to spend less, and that is the last thing they want. |

Really, there's a moment of sanity in DC? I'm sure the measure will fail. Too many people love the warfare state and too many people love the welfare state. Our budget deficits will soar. Would be nice if we had a lot less government, though, with this 23% consumption tax in lieu of the current tax structure. People would get to keep a lot more of their own money, it would encourage people to save, and nobody could bitch about loopholes/deductions. It is the only way to guarantee that the rich, corporations and illegals are paying taxes. |

As other posters have stated, those who are currently avoiding taxation would
finally be paying their fair share.
More recycling and less wastefulness would result, which would conserve energy
and provide jobs for those who could refurbish previously owned goods.
Those who are currently carrying the full burden of taxation would have
less tax to pay.
This new system would provide predictability and remove uncertainty which
would encourage businesses to expand since they would know better how to
plan. Businesses and the stockmarket hate uncertainty. |

This is distinguished from a recusable obligation, which according to Bouvier, arises from a voluntary act by which one incurs the obligation imposed by the operation of law. The Income Tax succinctly described is an irrecusable obligation. The obligation to make a return of income for using private credit is recognized in law as an irrecusable obligation. The voluntary use of private credit is the condition precedent, which imposes the irrecusable obligation to file a tax return. If private credit is not used or rejected, then the operation of law, which imposes the irrecusable obligation lies dormant and cannot apply. |
