Re: What is Love?
Well, ignoring people has nothing to do with LOVE...

You may be blinded by your own great words so your ego can't read clear anymore...

Jezus would not have made any difference in answering Mods or AC's, friends or strangers...

Yes...what is Love?

whatever

You don't know Jesus then as He said all this...

"But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves. Woe unto you, ye blind guides, which say, Whosoever shall swear by the temple, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gold of the temple, he is a debtor! Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifieth the gold? And, Whosoever shall swear by the altar, it is nothing; but whosoever sweareth by the gift that is upon it, he is guilty. Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifieth the gift? Whoso therefore shall swear by the altar, sweareth by it, and by all things thereon. And whoso shall swear by the temple, sweareth by it, and by him that dwelleth therein. And he that shall swear by heaven, sweareth by the throne of God, and by him that sitteth thereon. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess. Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness. Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye build the tombs of the prophets, and garnish the sepulchres of the righteous, And say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets. Wherefore ye be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children of them which killed the prophets. Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers. Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell? Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city: That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar..." -- (Matthew 23:13-35 KJV)

"For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.

This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another." -- Galatians 5:14-26

"Everyone says love hurts, but that isn't true. Loneliness hurts. Rejection hurts. Losing someone hurts. Envy hurts. Everyone gets these things confused with love, but in reality love is the only thing in this world that covers up all pain and makes someone feel wonderful again. Love is the only thing in this world that does not hurt."

Re: What is Love?
What love is:
Love is a verb, an action.

1 Corinthians 13:4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

8 Love never fails.
 Quoting: Salt

These words are still beautiful no matter how often you read them...

1 But what about justice? I'm 'easily angered' when I see people doing wrong or lying all the time...so I should forgive them and forget it? So why do we need judges? Why doesn't a judge say to a criminal: "You didn't know what you were doing...I forgive you...go in peace"?

2 Once there was a big storm in the place where I live. An older woman fell and her head was full with blood. Before that I was shopping with my mother who is VERY SCARED in a storm so she wanted to go home immediately! When that woman fell, I ran to her instead of protecting my mother. Isn't that strange? I didn't THINK or FEEL anything. Why did I rescue that woman and abandoned my own mother whom I loved? Was that LOVE or just a kind of instinct?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28057136

Sorry, I didn't see that you asked a question.

1. Justice is the idea of righting a wrong by those that are/will/may harm others. If someone IS harmed then a price is demanded by those who have been wronged. This is commonly called Vengeance and should be left to God since God is able to bring Justice with pure righteousness. Love embraces Justice but also with Mercy.

a. To forgive someone who wronged you is Grace and Mercy, out of Love
b. For a judge the purpose is to protect others by a system of laws. So a Judge will follow the written Law not out of Love but out of Duty. A Judge will not just dismiss a criminal unless those who have been wronged forgive them which could be a single person or even the government itself.

2. It could be that in your mind the other woman was is in more need than your mother at that moment.

What if the TRUTH is not true? Did you even ever thought of that? Or are you getting tired of defending anyway?

Re: What is Love?
The things that distort reality are opinions and feelings which you seem to be going by. That is not love.

Truth can only come from Love because Love will not lie to you in order to make itself feel good. Lying does not serve the one being lied to, usually it only serves the liar.

Anyone that can read the holy bible and say that it can blind and distort you are speaking a lie.

I am quoting the holy bible because it is True and established and full of Love, but you are speaking from your heart of feeling and opinion which can lead to lies and deception.

"The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?" -- (Jeremiah 17:9 KJV)

ALL these things I tell you, not because I think myself better than you, or out of hatred or malice, but out of LOVE!
 Quoting: Veresanctus

You are right, I am speaking from my heart of feeling and opinion and I really didn't mean to send any negativity your way. I'm not looking to fight. I think you're doing an awesome job.

Keep up the good work and keep on sending out that Love!

Re: What is Love?
What is love?

Love is two things. One is order, this is the greater. Order means treating things as you are meant to. The second is forgiveness. When the order has been violated, this enables the balance to be reestablished. If you do not treat those you love as you should, you do not love them, if you do not forgive them when they search for the order to be established, you do not love them as well. This is the universal rule for all creation. If there is a creator, he is exempt from this as he is set apart from creation. This is God and one can only speculate from the data within the law (order) of what he is like. If it seems that the law for man is to love one another and the rest of creation. This increases the synergy, a greater benefit to the whole and the individual as part of the whole. One can speculate that God is love from the law that holds creation. If one sets the creator in the place above creation as creator, one embraces love and the greater synergy is established. The more synergy the more one is able to evolve, transcending self and selfishness. If one believes they are God, or above the law that he made, this is delusion, madness as in creation there is order or law. The world we live in presently is a product of this delusion. If all obeyed the law of love what more would be needed for all? What is the law of love, to love creator with all and creation as yourself.

Imagine the world of love where all things evolve together worshipping truth, God. Compare this to the present one where love of self is encouraged. Lesser gods ruled by greater, through manipulation, lies, strength, etc. in the knowledge of good and evil (cause and effect) seeking an endless delusion where they actually think they have a chance of becoming like the creator or co creators, or whatever other madness, setting self above creation and the creator, his law, order and truth.

Re: What is Love?
It's the unconditional pure innocence of a child when the babe sees only you and not the world which the child was born into.

That babe never judges for the child does not know what that is

The Divine Law of Loves signature residing within the child until the world that the babe was born into corrupts the pure innocence that protects the child

WE were all once that child

Some of US still are

Re: What is Love?
ohn 3:16 makes clear that the love of Messiah is made manifest on the cross.

1Jn 3:16 Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

Joh 15:13 Greater love than this has no one, that anyone should lay down his soul for his friends.

Joh 10:15 Even as the Father knows Me, I also know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep.

Messiah lays down His life for His sheep. In this portion of Scripture, Messiah likens Himself to the ‘door’. Through His sacrifice, Messiah has opened up the door to eternity. He has pierced the veil that delivers us from death and allows us to enter in the Kingdom of Light. He has ‘pierced the fabric’ of time-space…

The Hebrew word for Love is a word that shows expressions and actions toward the family, which one was privileged with. Its root comes from a pictograph that represents one who is looking at a great sight with his hands raised as when saying behold. The combination of the pictures mean “look toward the house” or “provide for the family”.

One does not choose the household which one is born into (including tribe, parents, children and wife ((as marriages were often arranged by the father)), it is a gift from God. These gifts are seen as a privilege and are to be cherished and protected.

So the pictograph meaning of love, is “alef” which is an ox head, and means Ox, power, strength, leader first, followed by “hay”, which is picture of arms extended, and means to Behold, or to reveal. And then there is “bet”, which is a picture of a tent, and means a tent, or a house.

The first and last letters spell out the word for Father (alef – bet) אב and the middle letter ה is a picture of a man with outstretched arms. The Love of the Father is revealed through the Messiah on the tree, gathering all mankind back to their Creator.

Re: What is Love?
Medusa was a Gorgon. Medusa was a great beauty, but became vain and arrogant. Because of her arrogance and vanity, Medusa was transformed into an ugly woman with snakes for hair, and whom ever she gazed on would turn to stone.

Being turned to stone is figurative for the inability to act due to fear. The woman was so beautiful people wished to please her, but owing to her contemptible nature whatever they did was met with displeasure eventually leading to a passivity where the captive fears to act uncertain of the result.

Another kind of beauty beheads. It is the Schopenhauerian will-less-ness, brought on by seeing that which is “timeless”. One does not act because there is no sensuous requirement. One gazes on beauty, and there is nothing to be done, since knowledge has become the act, and any ownership of action would betray the beauty. One’s head is in the clouds.

"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.”

"God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”

So it is not the rational mind, nor the carnal mind that knows love.

That garden sweet, that lady fair,
And all sweet shapes and odours there,
In truth have never passed away:
'Tis we, 'tis ours, are changed; not they.

For love, and beauty, and delight,
There is no death nor change: their might
Exceeds our organs, which endure
No light, being themselves obscure.

"For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God."

"And if I drive out demons by Beelzebub, by whom do your people drive them out? So then, they will be your judges. But if I drive out demons by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you. Or again, how can anyone enter a strong man's house and carry off his possessions unless he first ties up the strong man? Then he can rob his house."
