They're already required on purchases made from dealers. I'm assuming that they want to extend that to private sales as well. At face value, that's something I could support, but its unenforceable, given that tens of millions of firearms are floating around out there that are unregistered, yet fully legal.

It would require the establishment of a national gun registry, something that will be vehemently opposed by gun rights supporters, given their fears that it'll eventually be used against them for confiscation.

Undoubtedly, yes, they're going to pass something. I think its going to be a lot less than Obama and the Democrats want. They're likely to get tighter background checks, tougher criminal gun penalties and probably closure of the gun show loophole as a compromise. Magazine limits have a better chance than a broad based AWB, which I think has virtually no chance in the House.

Simply put, the GOP has no reason to vote for this. They gain little to nothing by voting for it. The downside for voting against a major gun ban is that they lose a small percentage of moderates for a cycle or two. The downside of voting for it? The GOP would lose about a third of their voting base in rural conservative districts PERMANENTLY. It would be the quickest route to ending the GOP as a national party.

Now is time to invest in..... private jail corporations .....patent algorithm for risk factors of "possibly" unstable persons...

Almost all of these attacks took place in gun free zones.

Now Imagine every public place in the USA is a gun free zone except the outdoors.

Its a recipe for disaster which is probably what they want anyway.

The only way to curb the psychopath violence is by addressing the mental rejects directly, not by gun control.

Just listened a CtoC show where the shrink said these kids on anti depressants possibly have a missing enzyme in their system that keeps them from fully metabolizing the drugs.

When the Docs up there doses they go psycho and become unstable.

The entire story stinks to high heaven. Either its a staged event, and my bet is from forces outside the USA with this 110# kid as a patsy or its for real and whoever you can guess is bending the story to fit their agenda.

Mental health checks meaning what? What constitutes a mental health condition that warrants removal of a person's 2nd Amendment right?

I hope you realize that basically every human emotion/emotional response has basically been deemed a mental disorder by the American Psychological Association.

Depends on the details. I read last week that one politician said that anyone who had EVER been prescribed any type of mental health medication should forever be denied gun ownership. (The Obamacare database is trying to collect ALL medical records and any info they get will be used against you in some manner.)

That means someone grieving for a deceased spouse who took valium for a week or two would be out of luck, someone who took ritalin for ADD in school, someone depressed over a divorce or job loss who took an anti depressant for a couple of months could never own a firearm. They could even attribute PTSD to any combat veteran.

If they include anything like this in legislation OR IF THEY JUST SHIFT IT OVER TO THE BATF TO MAKE SUCH A RULE, it will effective ban all guns for a huge percentage of the population.

They could direct the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms to re-write their rules, since the various agencies are generally responsible for deciding exactly how laws are applied, keeping within the legislation that created those laws. That's a dangerous amount of leeway for assholes who do not respect the Constitution.

I am still waiting for someone to even ask the question of why these assaults for the most part are all happening in schools, even going back to the Texas Tower event in, what, the 70's?

With all of the screwing the American workers are getting these days by their employers, the number of workplace incidents are almost non-existent, while the schools are the prime stage.

Yes, you are right. As I parent I am well aware how the government uses our children to screw us out of massive amounts of cash. They sell drugs to the kids, and even have sex with them. Now they kill them so that they can use weapon confiscation to kill us too. Never forget that the schools ARE the government, and possibly the most corrupt branch as well.
