LucaChuchetta (OP) User ID: 28643574 United States 01/07/2013 11:32 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | For years, bums have been walking up and down sidewalks swinging bats at people, no-one talks of banning bats. Chances are they can hit their target easier with bats, too. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 11564783 If crazy wants to kill you would you prefer to be shot or bludgeoned to death? Just asking. if crazy wants to kill me crazy will find a way. i do not think about it, or worry about it. i would prefer the bum swinging a bat any day though. chances are i'll be able to defend myself a little easier. Yea, a crazy bum swinging wildly at you with a bat. Compared to a kid with 6 shots to miss before you can finish him. I do not think you realize how horrible a shot most people are - and just how easy it is to disarm a gun over a bat! in the process of approaching someone with a gun to disarm them i become a much easier target to hit, no? i don't know about you, but i have very little experience firing a gun, however, i do believe that if someone was running towards me to get the gun from me i'd put a hole or two in 'em no prob. |

Try aiming down the sights with 2-3 seconds from draw to fire and see how good you are. Again, most people are inexperienced. A bat on the other hand is a easy weapon to kill someone while having a nice range. I've never had a gun pulled on me I had to disarm. Yet, in training - the situation seems much easier. Also, you can beat a bat with either hand - most people can only shoot with their primary hand. |

First of all Newton, Ct is not far at all from Mahopac,... also, look at the kid, he looks like a whack job, clearly he is one of the last people I want armed to the T. 19 yr old kid with these kinds of weapons? for what???? If anyone read the article, the only weapon mentioned was the shotgun(unspecified type and caliber), as well as various large magazines(possibly against STATE law), and a taser. The shotgun was legal, the ammo was legal, the taser may or may not have been legal, so the only thing in question was a few magazines that used to be legal everywhere. The only real crime is reckless discharge, if that. His 1/4 million dollar bail is predicated on circumstantial evidence. Murderers get less bail! |
Resister User ID: 669410 United States 01/07/2013 12:04 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | OP, you don't know the guy that was arrested. You have seen one picture that your personal bias leads you to believe is unflattering. All you know about him is that he had some guns and fired one of them on his own property in a shed. Yes he broke some city/state ordinances. No, it wasn't the smartest thing in the world to do. That said, having some guns and shooting one of them out back in the shed because your city/state is so paranoid and anti-freedom that you could be arrested on the way to the gun range just trying to get there does not mean you are a homicidal maniac. Have you for one moment wondered why he did that? Most of New England is damn near a police state. Hell, Bloomberg won't even let New Yorkers have a soft drink bigger than 16 ounces. The man (stop calling him a kid) probably just wanted to try out a new shot gun he just got for Christmas in the privacy of his own shed on his own property without getting an anal exam and paying a rediculous amount of money at a gun range that isn't close or welcoming because CT is one of the strictes anti-gun states in the union. "God forbid we should ever be 20 years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, & always, well informed... If they remain quiet under such misconceptions it is a lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty... Let them take arms... What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants. " - Thomas Jefferson in 1787 |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 25276568 United States 01/08/2013 06:36 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It sometimes sounds like a war zone where I live. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 31622656 High powered weapons going off in every direction. You would think you were in the middle of a fire fight. We LOVE hunting season up here in the mountains, but every weekend well armed citizens can be heard zeroing their scopes, honing their shooting skills, so that if and when the day comes when they have to defend their God given rights, they will do Patrick Henry, and Paul Revere and Alvin York, and Chuck Mawhinney, and Adelbert Waldron, and Carlos Hathcock, and all the other American freedom fighters down through history, PROUD. Its like this where I live as well. Lots of gunfire pretty much year round. With more during July and hunting season. Honestly I find it comforting, because its means that in this area you couldn't have riots, or flash mobs, because men with guns would instantly come out and put and end to the nonsense. |

Quoting: 508527 well hey, i dont think 250,000 dollar bail is right, and maybe the kid was only guilty of being dumb, seems that way, it isn't right to assume he was up to no good, i would have sent him into jail for a night to shake him up a little, tell him what he did was absolutely not safe, and then make him do some community service or something. |

I was in a Combat zone at 19 years of age. What fucking Coward country are you from OP? he is a 19 yr old kid. just because you can enlist at 18 and serve this country in the armed forces doesn't mean you are suddenly a full grown man. he is a kid, and his actions clearly show that. i'm not speaking, i'm typing. and it is intersting to see the number of people who will actually take the time to say something negative, rather then say nothing at all. hahaha, o man this is too funny, ... anyway, yea, thought this kid was a dumbass for walking around with a shotgun and firing it off in an area where he could have potentially hurt someone, not to mention he should have known that SOMEone was going to call the police, i mean come on, the KID is a complete idiot. these posters arenot saying "negative"; theyare saying positive for The Constitution Of The United States Of America. Thereare Americans that never new they would have to fight for their Constitution, so arenot, yet, very good at it, yet. So give us a break, and thanks for the chance for the practice. |
