also Greece and Turkey should join together in renewable energy projects and REALLY turn things around in the Balkan and mediterranean... sun, wind, tides... we could be the Powerhouse of Southeastern Europe and the middle east... and shift paraDIGMS... but greed has to be excorcised first

I'm all for peace or cooperation too, but where do the demands stop? There's no logical person in Greece or the Greek govt that wants war, peace/friendship would be great, but honestly where the demands for islands and other BS stop?

the demands are not real... i think a turk in anatolia couldn t care less about some spot in the mediterranean... Turk politics are puppets too, so their demands are those of their masters, to maintain the divide/conquers status quo...

If we let them take share there will be no war.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 32170605

Yep, pretty much. Oil companies will decide for this too though, less earnings for them if 2 countries have to share.
 Quoting: insertfunnyusername

There are rumors, conspiracy theories we've been hearing for 20-30 years that there's lots of oil in the south east region of Turkey. Well there are already some oil wells and a little oil production there but i mean much much more than that. Which makes sense considering Iraq in the south, Iran in the south east, and abruptly on this side of the border oil disappears, really ? I don't buy it. It's said that whenever those companies find a productive oil field, they mark it 'unproductive' and close the well. I don't know if this is certainly true but it makes sense to me. There were also some witnesses (some petroleum engineers etc. worked in that area) claiming the same, but as usual they were discredited as conspiracy whackos.
My point is they will never allow you or me to get that oil entirely, until this status quo changes.
I also believe that Black Sea is very rich in oil, but the same story apply there too.
To know means to know all. Not to know all means not to know. In order to know all, it is only necessary to know a little. But, in order to know this little, it is first necessary to know pretty much.

Off course a Turk in Anatolia couldn't care less, we've already said that this has nothing to do with the average citizens, and i do agree that this is the perfect divide and conquer strategy with puppets installed in both countries, but i think you're oversimplifying things here, demands of Turkish govt are pretty real.

Yeah, heard this about SE too. Big game played out these months with N.Iraq/Kurdistan oil, seems there is some kind of alliance between Turkey and the Kurds going on there, Iraq govt doesn't like it. Black Sea exploration starts soon with Shell from what i've heard. Lots of people have been discredited as conspiracytards here too regarding these kind of things too, haha, just 2 years ex-pm Papandreou went on camera and said that there's no oil anywhere in Greece.

Nope, this is the world we live in. Imagine how an average and less than average person buys this shit (that everybody hates you/us/they etc.) and always have a defensive nationalist paranoia against others and how then he becomes vulnerable to propagandas from the puppets and their masters. IMO, we don't need corrupt politicians, TPTB sickos, sinister third parties like CIA etc. when we have pathological minds among us. And this will not change until we expose them and stop them instead of thinking this as an ordinary behaviour.

If our politicians and leaders listen to oil companies, then oil companies decide.
If they dont, then through democracy, theoretically it is the people who decide.

To my opinion the best thing is to give Turkey like 30-40% of the fields and to assure that they will have no territorial claims. So things calm down, both countries are friends, help each over and progress etc.Turkey can be a big market for Greece and versus.
But if some people want war...then war it will be.

Lets see what happens.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 32170605

But that's the problem here, they don't want only deposits in SE Med, they want in N.Aegean too, Ionian under the Albanian proxy, Cyprus, 2 islands under Crete ffs, they also want supervision of half the Aegean, Thrace and the demands go on from there, as i said i wouldn't give shit to the current regime in Turkey. Peace/friendship is a 2-way street imo, i despise terrorist demands and threats but we certainly lack the leaders in our govt to go all the way through this now.
 Quoting: insertfunnyusername

I know Turks demand much...thats why i said 30-40% of the aegean fields and no territorial claims.
They are against international law everywhere,in Thrace,Cuprus,Aegean. They also support the albanians to cause trouble in the ionian.
The problem is also with the leadership of Turkey.Hypothetically if a super greek leader appears and proposes cooperation...turkish leadership highly possible will ask for 80% of the fields!

Its a hard case.Such cases are solved only by war.

The oil companies have their own agenda when to take advantange of the oil fields. They know exactly every resource in the planet.Satelites give the intelligence needed.
They have a policy...first we take oil from the middle east, then from meditteranenan, then from the poles, then from everywhere possible...and when oil finishes we will switch to hydrogen. The same companies that trade oil will produce and trade hydrogen in 30 years.Hydrogen will be even more expensive.
They go first for the easier to get resources.Middle east or texas was easy.Oil,natgas and other resources in the aegean are deep.In the poles they are even deeper.Nazis had maps with the aegean and meditteranenan resources. The greek military regime had maps. They are the same fields that are explored nowdays. But at that time the technology was not so advanced and it was hard to get.

Hard case indeed, and that's the reason i don't believe we can be friends with their current govt, i actually admire their diplomatic balls but they're ruthless and greedy, just 2 years ago they were the bestest friends ever with Gaddafi and Assad and we all saw how this panned out in the end, add Iraq to that list, they can't be trusted imo, they always ask for more, it's very romantic to talk about friendships now, friendship between the 2 countries will only come when the thieves that are governing Greece will go away with the financial crash we're expecting here and i'm dead sure that Turkey will be involved in a big war in one of the many fronts she has open already in the ME and then people will overthrow the current regime. Probably only then, can't see it as things stand now.

Lets hope this war will not be against Greece.

I m not talking about a 3 day conflict with dogfights and some bombs around and some hits at military installations but about a full scale war.
Everybody knows what will happen in a full scale war.Greece looses some aegean islands and Turkey looses Eastern Thrace and has to defend Istannbul with great casualties. Both economies are ruined.Countries go back 50 years.

The only ones that will benefit from a full scale greek-turkish war will be the oilcompanies, the banksters, construction companies etc.
Lets hope we will be not that stupid!Greeks and Turks!

We didn't get the Abrams, at least yet, EU didn't agree with the delivery, but we don't need them either tbh, we have so many tanks as UK, France and Germany combined already, we won't fight such a war again where tanks will be needed.

I agree that is starting to get crazy everywhere but this is nothing new with the Aegean, happens every other time or so, things are always a bit tense, there won't be war, a crisis maybe but that's about it imo.
 Quoting: insertfunnyusername

Ah I wondered about those tanks, and out of curiosity why wouldn't the tanks be much use ?

I can't see war developing maybe a skirmish here and there Like Pak/India mainly posturing in my opinion.

I know Turkey has a year lease to use force on Syria if needed without going to Parliament, Do you know if that is constitutional to to any Country or is it just Syria

I'm sure it won't go full scale war, can't happen imo, both NATO and we're in EU too, this is EU soil we're talking about here, not that there isn't a chance NATO or EU won't do shit but it'll certainly won't go to a full scale war, not likely at all, this would probably go the usual way if something happens in the first place. Turkey will go full scale in Syria or somewhere else though, they arming themselves like there's no tomorrow.

Coz we're full on the land army dept, we don't need them, something on the navy or airforce dept would be nice and appreciated but we don't need something like tanks, there's no chance that we'll ever fight a land war anytime soon, no one can invade us from land because of the mountainous terrain, not even Turkey, we're pretty safe on the land dept. We can have them maybe since they're free but we certainly don't need them, other departments could maybe use some strengthening like the navy or submarines for example, we already have the biggest land army and airforce in the EU regarding numbers, can't see the use of more tanks, it would probably better to have fund to maintain what we already have which is getting harder everyday with the austerity and all.

Turkey has a lease to use force everywhere, the thingy that was voted in the parliament was not only about Syria but everywhere they feel like it.

Yeah I see your point just looked on a map there are a few points they could cross but the further in they get the more they would have to stick to roads and they are some narrow valleys, they would be Fecked from the High Ground but its not impossible but it would be hard......

The Islands I could see being landed upon that would be the most realistic approach of any conflict I can see happening.

But I can't see much happening in the way of war

Yep land is safe, first there is a big plain going all the way to Istanbul, then there is the river, then big anti-tank trenches, then the mountains and probably the most militarized region in Europe, no one would go from there, it's a suicide. Islands are the key to a potential conflict since they're closer to Turkey than Greece.

You Bozos on the both sides of the conflict don't have the slightest clue that you are trying to understand and solve a problem(events/plots) with your linear mind, a problem that consists of a set of complex multi-dimensional non-linear differential equations with initial and boundary conditions which are only known to the Creators of the problem. Hell, most of you can't even solve a simplest linear equation with one variable.

You are not even a pawn on the chess board. Yet, you think you understand all the secrets and tricks of the game not knowing you make yourself a laughable stock.

You can watch and take a glimpse on the board simply because
they allow you to.

Now, get back to your cage and clamp your hands. You may be given a banana.

Doesn't look promising for sure, but new round of exploratory talks will begin soon, let's see how they will pan out.

I doubt if we'll reach till these talks... Don't forget Thrace where there's also serious escalation with the Turkish consulate's actions...

Watching Thrace too off course. Lygeros said today that EEZ is only a matter of days now, but he had also said that it will happen till the end of 2012 too last summer.

Yes, I also agree on what he said about "end of the year", meaning that our diplomats are rather... slow and don't grasp immediately. Don't forget that this specific ministry has lots of ELIAMEP "members" that are against anything and everything about EEZ.

Yep, this was inevitable, posted earlier in the thread that they gonna buy this thing and that they have declared exploration in Greek territorial waters, EEZ from Greece is supposedly a response to these developments.
