That was the main reason Germany lost WWII.They had by far the best army and technology but their lack of energy made them weak.The armoured vehicles in Russia were driven by fully synthetic fuel which at that time german scientists manage to create, but it froze at very low temperatures.
Unless humanity goes to the free energy era,energy fields will determine peace and war.Even hydrogen which is planned and studied as the next possible fuel needs huge amounts of energy to be produced.
