Put a lion in a cage for years without food and watch what happens.
Its appetite will of cause grow and grow, and then you point your finger at its hunger?

The elusive giant squid, which can grow to a monstrous 26 feet in length and is likely the source of the Nordic legend of the kraken, has been captured on film at last...

..."Researchers around the world have tried to film giant squid in their natural habitats, but all attempts were in vain before," Kubodera said.

The squid was spotted at a depth of around 2,000 feet using a submersible in July, about 10 miles east of Chichi island in the north Pacific Ocean.

When they're full grown they have huge "teeth" around the suckers on their tentacles. This one doesn't look like it's full grown so it's eye is probably only the size of a tea cup saucer.

Can grow up to 26 ft in length....I love how they throw this shit out there like they know beyond the shadow of a doubt the exact size of all of these full grown creatures....ok rant is over. Either way these animals (like most in the ocean) blow my mind. So amazingly beautiful and alien. I wish we were able to explore the abyss...we can only imagine the sizes and shapes of what amazing beings reside there.

Exactly. Some people can understand writing better than others. Thank you for clarifying. They were not talking about this exact specimen in the article, but one's that may be 'full grown'.

It amazes me the people that think they are intelligent, yet have no basic understanding of journalistic writing.

People do not read anymore. I know. Makes me crazy. I could make references to all of kinds of things from classical literature or myth, and get this vague, "Err what?" puzzled look for most people.
