It is a conspiracy, but a far less complicated one.
The purpose of all songs dealing with Diamonds in any reference, is to re instill the very idea that diamonds are rare, which is a complete lie.
Diamond scarcity is artificially created by the limited imports controlled by the De Beers family.
As usual, it's about Money - that is all.
