earthquake felt in Athens, Greece (edited)

2013-01-08 14:15:00.0 39.00 N 26.00 E 1 mb 5.9 A NEAR THE COAST OF WESTERN TURKEY LED

1 minute and 8 seconds before the Aegean Sea quake according to the sensors

Probably was a very shallow quake, or one larger that usgs downgraded. 10.0 km depth.

Reports are coming in it was actually recorded as a 6.4.

yes it is the same one! they felt it in sofia, bulgaria too.
We felt it all over greece (athens too)

wow it effected a very large area, Izmir, ıstanbul, Greece, Bulgaria

i see it also now been deleted of emsc

By the way according to Kandilli (Turkish Geological Survey institute) it was 6.2.

Ostria, this is the infamous Anatolia fault, right? It was felt, in Greece, Turkey and Bulgaria...

they still have show it here.. but it could be the same one felt there too?

Gregor our institute agreed it was 5.8 but i dont know if I believe them.

Felt in Athens from Lemnos?

According to some experts this is not the North Anatolia fault.
Ostria, Turkish sources insist on 6.2. I don't know but maybe since they have sensors closer to that area

I wonder where the next one will hit. When there were a few quakes like this a couple of days ago, the bigger one hit in Alaska, and then the quakes slowed down for a bit. I never guess correctly, but I still try

yes it could be so, i dont know either.
but it lasted quite long, it was shallow and it was felt in a wide area. I guess the waves moved to Bulgaria (many reports there) and south towards Athens (many reports here too)

Yeah, i can see that now, lol, panic mode got to me it seems.

I guess you personally felt it good and proper in Istanbul right? N.W. Greece here didn't feel a thing.

Yep i felt it quite well, but maybe one of the reasons that i felt it is because i am on the 12th floor. Some of my friends didn't feel it.
