Worry when you see several sun spots merge into a single one 6 times the size of jupiter ..... Then you know you are in for the deep fly ...   That may be overkill. I read a post earlier about someone claiming to have been aboard some Navy ship in 1947 during the period when the biggest sunspot ever recorded took place, he claims they were out of communication with everyone for 11 days. I didn't really understand what he was getting at.. Wouldn't this have affected land communications then as well?
