The same is also happening to Ice Cream

Years ago you used to be able to purchase a full half gallon now it's significantly less but the price seems to keep going up.

Everything is doing this.. used to be 10 small candies in a sleeve, then 8 now 6. Same thing with snacks. 12/10/8/6. Juice, Ice cream. Tuna fish was 7 ozs, then 6 1/2 now 5 oz. Same size cans less stuff in them. lots of times it's the same price just less stuff.

Lay's potato chips, ketchup.... on and on. Everything is small and the prices are up a nickle here, dime there. I also notice the dinty moore cause they had a few old cans next to the new ones.

I spend $70 a week on food and eat unbelievable great every day. Screw all the grocery stores and eat one HUGE meal a day at the local casinos. Snow crab + prime rib, $12.99. Try making that at home!!!!!!!! Weekdays it's a lot less for unlimited salad bar + everything else. Be smart and think "outside the box".

Campbell's has changed V8. now it's like you dumped out half a bottle, filled it with ice and let it melt.

it used to coat the side of a cup when you drank it, now it barely adheres at all.
 Quoting: Anonymous Cowherder

They have also changed the marketing for their chunky soup line. They used to brag that one can could fill up a football player. Now they are advertising that one can and bunch of rice or mashed potatoes could fill the player and his mother.

(the idea -- of course -- that you you have to buy the smaller can, at the same old price, with less actual non water ingredients, and then augment with cheap carbs)

I have a Dollar General less than a mile away so I go in there to get my laundry and dishwasher soaps. Bought a big bottle of Clorox bleach (121 oz) and it was $4.00. Even the smaller bottles were $2.50.

I live alone and sometimes schedule doesn't allow me to cook.
So pop a tinny and heat. 20 minute lunch.
I have been known to make an excellent stew. But it takes time and attention.
 Quoting: Kirk

Some people just don't understand this Kirk, I too love to cook and am pretty good at it. I also live alone though and it doesn't always work to cook something elaborate. I also suck at planning out what food to cook for a week or two and it's just me so usually cooking one thing is good for 2-3 days. So I tried to keep lots of fresh ingredients in my kitchen but end up throwing away spoiled food a lot.

Started making the switch to things that I can make and then use simply in a bunch of different ways through the week.

At the end of the day though, sometimes you need the convenience of the crap food. I understand you completely buddy.

I like to drink Kool-Aid. Not very long ago you could get 10 packages for $1.00. Now they are three for $0.99. Talk about inflation,,, geez!!!

I used to love Breyer's ice cream,,, especially their butter pecan. Yup, smaller packages now at a higher price. More importantly, though, have you tasted it lately? Tastes like crap! A few months ago I wanted to get some butter pecan but the store didn't have any so I decided to try one of their new varieties. I don't remember the name of it but the stuff was actually inedible,,, so much so that I couldn't even finish the first bowlful that I tried and ended up throwing the rest of it away.

As a result, I'm cutting back everywhere including food. I quit drinking beer and Pepsi. Coffee reduced to one cup of decaf. Basically 2 meals a day now. Now they're going to get less money.....

Same here. I do not eat out any more at all. I do not buy food that does not constitute to subsistence anymore.

"Luxury" items like cokes etc are gone. It is not cause I am broke or cheap either.

We must hit them where it hurts and that is the wallet.
 Quoting: FC69

Exactly. I'm not broke either. I could go out and buy the biggest HDTV out there and get cable coming in here tomorrow if I wanted to. But I won't do it.

Re: Dinty Moore beef stew smaller can
Everything is being downsized.
Deceptive packaging is almost universal now,
and the manufacturers are unapologetic about
it too.

It used to be called cheating, or swindling,
or at least trickery, but now it is S.O.P.
e.g. same tuna can, but now mostly water
with pieces of tuna floating around.

Another example of America's moral decay and rot.

BTW, although the quantity is going down,
in many cases the prices are going up.

So less costs you more.

I noticed this in November. They had one 24oz can in the very back. It made the 20 oz look so small. I agree with others that if you haven't learned how to make stuff like that nows the time.

Re: Dinty Moore beef stew smaller can
Check out the Mueller's Pasta line. All their varieties are in a standard Ronzoni-type box but you only get 12 ounces of pasta instead of 16 ounces. You should see the people flock around the Mueller aisle in the super market snatching up all the Mueller's pasta because they're on sale for 80 cents a box. I pointed out to an old lady that the Mueller's box only had 12 ounces and she can buy the same pasta in the Ronzoni box for 5 cents more. She was shocked. Just too many people don't read the weights of stuff they buy. That's how the food companies can pull this shit. Oh yeah...and the Bumble Bee tuna...that's down to 3 ounces from 5 ounces but the can is the same size. Gotta love these food shylocks.

What is scary is that anyone still thinks slop in a can is food.
If it wouldn't go bad in a week, you shouldn't be eating it.
Things that grow are food. Fruits, vegtables, berries, nuts. Get the idea? Organic if possible, to avoid GMO's.
Processed slop is killing people everyday. Way more than guns are but you don't see anyone trying to put a ban on it!
