They are just using Wal-marts business model. Offer the cheapest prices until all your competetion has gone out of business and then raise prices.

Companies aren't skimping to stay in business.

They are skimping to keep a comfortable profit at the end of the day.

Just look aty how much it actually costs for some of these companies to make their products, as compared to how much they actually sell it for. The mark up is isane.

Companies can afford to take the hit.

Companies should take part of the hit in general.

But they don't. The prices almost always get passed to the consumer.

It is unbelievable that they whine like little bitches when their taxes get raised and their loop holes closed.

They have been milking the sheep for years. Their cups have been full and overflowing for a long time.

The tax increases will not pu these companies oout of business. Neither the fact that they may have to provide insurance for their employees.

It just shows how damn crooked they all really are and the bottom line in whom they serve.

They care more about their increase in profits, their loop holes, tax reductions etc.... then they will ever care about you as an individual.

They are some of the most crooked sum bitches out there but pretend to be the most model of citizens. Their shit doesn't stink.

Their god is money but they will try and convince you otherwise.

In a general sense, these companies don't exist to help feed you; they exist to make a profit.

If you don't like the way they do business, don't give them yours. If enough people feel the same way, they will be forced to change.

I eat a lot of beans because meat is just too expensive to eat regularly. Go to the nearest yard sale or Value Village or the Sally Anne or whatever and get a slow-cooker for like $5. Some cheap-o aunt always gives a marrying couple a slow-cooker and it inevitably gets sold for nothing. It'll cook dried beans overnight and you can put them in whatever you like.

Buying dried beans is a HELL of a lot cheaper than buying canned, and I'm sure it's somehow better for you (less sodium or something)

A slow-cooker is also good for making dinners while you work (pot roast, chili, stew, soups, all kinds of things - really good for cheap but tough cuts of meat that need low and slow cooking) and a cheap lamp timer will let you set when it turns on if it's something that doesn't take all day. Don't worry about it burning down the house, but put a cookie sheet or something under it in case it bubbles over.

Plus it makes big batches so you can freeze portions for lunches or dinners. It's very useful to do on the weekend so you can just reheat a healthy dinner in a few minutes (reheat stew + boil some noodles) instead of being tempted by junk food.

Well said. They have proven time and again that profits are more important than anything else, including human life.

I was shopping at the dollar store awhile back and came across these potato sticks that were kinda like those pic-nic potato sticks that came in a can. Well these came in a bag so I was looking at them and it was a brand i didn't recognize. Then at the bottom of the bag was a warning that these potato sticks caused cancer (something about the cooking process). I guess they didn't have enough money to bribe the FDA since they were a start-up company.

We are almost to the point if not already soley dependant on manufactured goods.

All off the resources are bought by corporate whales, so you are forced to buy their products.

We are looking at a society that is nearly dependant on corporatism and big gov. If not already there.

Invest in a stainless steel pressure cooker.

Without the krap additives that have absolutely NO reason to be in processed foods other than to make a buck... by cheaper processing at the front and selling you meds to battle the afflictions brought on by the additive crud at the back.

Well at least potted meat is still the same size and still as cheap. I like it just not really sure what it is.

I second that! Fagor is awesome. Takes old dried hard uncookable and undigestable beans and makes them just the opposite and quite edible.

Don't ever buy batteries at Dollar General, they're defective (depleted) right out of the package, I bought a 9-volt for a dollar, doesn't work, tested it with Fluke 787 DVM, 8.71 volts, a brand new one is to be 9.45 volts, 85% depleted.
Later bought watch batteries for my illuminated sight pin on my compound bow, they usually last at least 2 seasons, these were dead in 10 min., I checked the other 2 unused batteries voltage w/fluke DVM 1.34 Volts each, normal volts should be 1.58 volts, 95% depleted right out of the box.
Be careful what you buy there.

I've seen products that used to be all beef, now with pork.

Higher prices for smaller packaged HMO foods? No thanks. I'm like the others here who mentioned making their own stew and stuff and freezing the leftovers. I have been using my crock pot so I definitely have leftovers.

Nowadays I can hardly bring myself to eat the prepackaged crap in the stores. I'll betcha the illuminati food company owners don't eat their own crap.

Sometimes I use organic but not always, depends on what fresh food I'm buying. Try to rule out prepackaged foods if possible. Shop around the outside of the store and avoid the middle aisles if possible.

I agree that most food doesn't taste as it did at one time. I'm very bored with eating as a result of that.

When there is nothing else to eat....BPA's will be the LEAST of ones problems.

Over the years canned goods have become smaller while maintaining the “same price” and in many respects one has to consider forgoing meats and supplement their diets with beans purchased in bulk.

Further purchasing non-GMO rolled oats, quick oats; steel oats for breakfast should be considered an option. If you purchase all of the above items in super pail, size will be a bargain and you will not have to repackage in storable pails yourself.

Also consider a garden and canning or pickling your crop and you do not need much land to raise enough crops to have excess to can for future use.
