Anonymous Coward User ID: 31791480 Australia 01/08/2013 10:46 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | There's nothing inherently great about being young: acne, worries about penis/breasts too small, seeking others approval, friction with those older, trying to find a path in life, exams, etc. Then, bit older and it's worries about partners' infidelities, others have more/doing better, STDs, pregnancy worries, fears that life has already passed you by, depression, acne scars from the previous acne, reputations destroyed already by seeking attention and approval via risky/stupid means Then, bit older again and there's the mortgage, children's education and associated costs, body's already beginning to sag, life feels like a trap, etc. Few more years on the clock and those children who thought you were a god now despise you, criticise you, running away from you, then back to you dragging kids of their own No wonder they say middle aged and older are found to be the most contented as opposed to youthful chasers of mere transitory 'happiness' All ages are good. Just takes a willingness to see beyond the programmed youth-worship. Takes acceptance and willingness to do it naturally instead of falling for the enhanced lips and boobs, the promises of home-gym equipment Doesn't matter HOW beautiful your face and body in youth -- gravity and Time will take it from you, no matter what you do. So save time and effort and go with the flow. Discover the joys of other ages, because they're plentiful All good :-) |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 8780909 United States 01/08/2013 10:48 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Alot of you guys on here are saying getting old is wonderful. It really isn't. I've worked done alot of work with eldery people and it's really sad . If you don't have a family that's supports you when you get old it's like waiting to die with life just throwing more shit on you. Also I'm referring to ages 75 plus. Honestly I'd rather die before im 50 than to get old and be on a endless cycle of medicine, pills, and special diet trying to prolong something that was already determined since my inception. There are some people getting old is wonderful for most it is heart breaking and tiring. |

Still, I would not trade where I'm at for a 20 year old body. Life is clearer now. I've accepted my mortality and can finally communicate. I was withdrawn when I was younger. I'm making the best music at 59 that I ever have and am so grateful for being blessed with people that love me as I am finally learning about love in the truest sense of the word. |

I dread the prospect of long term illness, more than death itself, which I know to be absolutely wonderful, having had some moments in death a few years ago. I look and feel younger but when I come out of the shower I sometimes wonder if I will ever have sex again. I wonder if I would dare. That hurts. Just how blurry does a mans near vision get? I guess I wouldn't mind the restricted diet and bad eyesight if lovemaking were still part of the deal. The terrible wisdom that accompanies dreadful old age rocks. I wouldn't be young again for anything. |

It must be brought down, altered dramatically (in process as you read) to bring in something else. Most in the U.S. don't care. For a variety of reasons. Intrinsic deficits of character. Add to that employment of control mechanisms of various types and techs that only those of stronger will and higher caliber moral/ethical/spiritual character can and will resist. This bird is cooked. And about to be eaten. There are other countries much further down that hit list. Some very much. Eventually they too will be, "gotten to." Between now and then there is and will be a much higher quality of living than many here in the states have. More basic freedoms. Less intrusion/krap. And don't ask where. I've done my work in the states. I get to go and leave it to its deserves. |

Why can't we just retain our youth til our appointed time to die and then just check out? Noooooooooooo we have to slowly decay and degenerate and malfunction over decades of time.
