PhDs on Food Stamps - More than 5000 Janitors have PhDs

One of my neighbors is a janitor and a former airline pilot, this is not B.S., and another was an A-6 pilot in vietnam and lays tile for a living these days.

Anyone in this economic climate who takes on tens of thousands of dollars of student loan debt is crazy.

It will be good for them !! They need to get their hands dirty and do without for while . Maybe they wont be such intelligent assholes trying to tell everyone else whats best for them and how they have to do it !!!!
We dont need even one more educated person in this country . We need people with character and ethics neither of which are developed in our colleges.

What the fuck! Why even go to collage in the first place!

They probably refused to join certain fraternities and clubs in which it would be necessary for them to commit acts they could be blackmailed about.

But I would hope they could use their education for the greater good. If they would volunteer to teach at shelters or missions, or organize community projects, I believe they would be blessed.

I'm not saying there aren't any good jobs over here anymore but positions are few and far between. We should just fully roll out automation and give people a living wage. Apparently the UK spent 500 billion on benefits last year. That is enough to give every man, woman and child in the country a lump sum of £9000. Fuck these menial, wage slave jobs.

What happens when people get degrees in crap.

If you are not going to get a marketable degree, then don't get one at all.

We do not need any more egotistical brats with degrees in basketweaving who think they are entitled to six figure salaries.

As a percentage of the whole 5000 being janitors is inconsequential. Don't knock on people who simply wanted to be masters of their chosen field. Some make it. Some don't. In that way it is just like every other job. Those who can excell in that highly competitive world of highly intelligent people get the job. The rest don't.

Do you dislike people who know more about a subject than you? It sounds like it. I doubt that many people who have ever gone to a good grad school in a science field would be condescending toward Ph.D's. Most of you aren't smart enough to make it. The average IQ of a professor in the sciences is 130. For the rest of you your average IQ is 100. They are probably more intelligent than you and they damn sure know more about their field than any of you. So maybe you should give them some credit.

Everything that you take for granted has been brought to you by Ph.D's. Computers, the internet, microwaves, cable tv, cell phones, you name it.

I don't know that all of those are just because of bad economic times. Through the grapevine at one of my old jobs I heard a story of a GS-15 (highest Federal pay grade before entering the executive pay scale) who quit his job and became a high school janitor because he couldn't stand the B.S. and stress anymore. He wanted to just go to work, do his job, and leave his work at work so he could enjoy his family at home, which was something he couldn't do with his high-paying, high-responsibility job. While it's a shame that so many highly educated people might be "stuck" in a career like a janitor, some of them probably do it because they realize what is important in their lives.

We have a family member working toward a BS in Psychology. She honestly believes she will land a six figure job straight out of college.

Like you, I am highly educated. I hold Bachelors degrees in Business Management, Psychology/Social Science; a MS in Management & an MBA with a concentration in Finance.

I know the game is rigged, but if you get a degree in Engineering, Medicine or another more challenging field, there is a much greater chance of finding & keeping a well paying job.

Psychology? A waste of time & money.

In case you did not notice the above post -- I have no shortage of University degrees. I made a great deal of money during the dot com & housing booms.

Since you regard me as a dumb ass mod, I will make sure you are no longer subjected to any of us.

Back to your Women's Studies class. Get your degree in nothing -- but hey, you can tell yourself how brilliant you are & how nobody understands you because you are just soooooo intellectually superior to the rest of the world.
