But I would hope they could use their education for the greater good. If they would volunteer to teach at shelters or missions, or organize community projects, I believe they would be blessed. |

I did. During Clinton's reign, it fell through again and they told me to go back to school again to learn something new. I did. During Bush's reign, it fell through again and they told me to go back to school again to learn something new. I did. during Obama's reign, it fell through again and they told me to go back to school again to learn something new. this time I told them to go fvck themselves. I could have been retired with a pension by now from my first field of study. it is the pillar to post syndrome. bumping people back and forth between jobs is a way of not allowing mass amounts of workers to retire. It's a gimmick that I learned too late. Maybe my experience will help some younger person who still has a dog that can hunt in the game. As for me, I'm done with the rat race. |

We should just fully roll out automation and give people a living wage. Apparently the UK spent 500 billion on benefits last year. That is enough to give every man, woman and child in the country a lump sum of £9000. Fuck these menial, wage slave jobs. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 31546013 United States 01/09/2013 09:40 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | As a percentage of the whole 5000 being janitors is inconsequential. Don't knock on people who simply wanted to be masters of their chosen field. Some make it. Some don't. In that way it is just like every other job. Those who can excell in that highly competitive world of highly intelligent people get the job. The rest don't. Do you dislike people who know more about a subject than you? It sounds like it. I doubt that many people who have ever gone to a good grad school in a science field would be condescending toward Ph.D's. Most of you aren't smart enough to make it. The average IQ of a professor in the sciences is 130. For the rest of you your average IQ is 100. They are probably more intelligent than you and they damn sure know more about their field than any of you. So maybe you should give them some credit. Everything that you take for granted has been brought to you by Ph.D's. Computers, the internet, microwaves, cable tv, cell phones, you name it. Show some respect. |
Gratia Plena User ID: 1220977 United States 01/09/2013 09:40 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I don't know that all of those are just because of bad economic times. Through the grapevine at one of my old jobs I heard a story of a GS-15 (highest Federal pay grade before entering the executive pay scale) who quit his job and became a high school janitor because he couldn't stand the B.S. and stress anymore. He wanted to just go to work, do his job, and leave his work at work so he could enjoy his family at home, which was something he couldn't do with his high-paying, high-responsibility job. While it's a shame that so many highly educated people might be "stuck" in a career like a janitor, some of them probably do it because they realize what is important in their lives. |

I was familiar with trending and did my homework with what field stood the best chance of survivability. the game is rigged from the time you are born. the elite changes the markets and invests in different things over a period of yrs. this in turn has a domino effect on the people who are actively participating in the current trends. business evolves and so we have to I am tired of evolving. I just want steady 9-5 for 30 yrs til I retire. but I was never allowed that. no matter what field of study I chose. and they do it intentionally so they do not have to cover the cost of their loyal workers retirement. workers have been robbed blind based upon lies told at their hiring. |

We have a family member working toward a BS in Psychology. She honestly believes she will land a six figure job straight out of college. Like you, I am highly educated. I hold Bachelors degrees in Business Management, Psychology/Social Science; a MS in Management & an MBA with a concentration in Finance. I know the game is rigged, but if you get a degree in Engineering, Medicine or another more challenging field, there is a much greater chance of finding & keeping a well paying job. Psychology? A waste of time & money. Fate whispers to the warrior "You cannot withstand the storm" the warrior whispers back "I am the storm" INTJ-A |

The "we don't need no education" crap. It is also indicative of the way we have change things: you must be a utility, a slave to business desires! And you must pay for your education in the field of work itself -- forget how people used to be able to get on the job training... no... you have to get the training before you apply. It used to be a college degree got you in the door, not because it was in the area you would work in, but because it showed you were intelligent and can be trained. Now we have people like this dumbass mod who wants to make everything in education about what skills are best for slaves... In case you did not notice the above post -- I have no shortage of University degrees. I made a great deal of money during the dot com & housing booms. Since you regard me as a dumb ass mod, I will make sure you are no longer subjected to any of us. Back to your Women's Studies class. Get your degree in nothing -- but hey, you can tell yourself how brilliant you are & how nobody understands you because you are just soooooo intellectually superior to the rest of the world. This is the trending I was referring. what is a good bet on a field of study today will not be before it becomes time to retire. the elites are not dumb. and they know every way to fvck people over. |
