I was wondering ,i also may get laughed outa here by this ,i have been studying all these supervolcanoes for sometime ,and apparently they will be the loudest sound the world would have heard in living history ,could they be the cause ,lately Germany and New Mexico supervolcanoes have been showing increased Magma movement and ground lifting ,no laughter or piss taking needed just a maybe or a no.5a

The local T.V. station is reporting that B52's from Barksdale were on a bombing run out at the Utah test range. They are planing to do the same thing tonight.
 Quoting: Stang 30912614

Yep that was the official response.

Snip; Mission accomplished? The mystery of the loud booms that rattled Davis and Weber counties appears to have been solved: B-52s from Barksdale Air Force Base, La., dropping ordinance on the Utah Test and Training Range.
"Aircraft noises, explosions and other military operations conducted on the UTTR can sometimes be heard on the East side of the Great Salt Lake," Hill Air Force Base spokesman George Jozens said in a statement Wednesday.

"If weather conditions are just right, sound will carry, ricochet and even be amplified and travels many miles. Barksdale's B-52s were dropping ordnance during training about 9 p.m. last night directly West of the southern part of the Great Salt Lake on the UTTR."

The statement said the training exercises at the UTTR would continue Wednesday night.

Oh sure, because the Air Force worries about FAA regulations.

I am curious though at what altitude you need to be for a sonic boom to be felt at ground level. I don't know enough about the physics of sonic booms.

SALT LAKE CITY — Many northern Utah residents are wondering what caused a loud boom that shook their windows Tuesday night.

The source of the sonic booms, as they're being described, remains unknown. But seismologists are suggesting they could have come from far away, perpetuated by the inversion.

Emergency dispatchers and KSL received dozens of calls about the noises, with people saying their windows shook. Others said it felt like an earthquake.

The state seismologist confirmed there were two sonic booms around 9 p.m.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1366850

Now the airforce comes out with this. Earlier they said there was no testing being done.

Southcentral Authorities Silent on Cause of Booming Noise

By Chris Klint
Channel 2 News
12:44 p.m. AKST, January 4, 2013
ANCHORAGE, Alaska—
Southcentral Alaska authorities didn’t have any immediate cause for a loud booming noise heard Thursday night and reported by Channel 2 viewers, but seemed to rule out sonic booms from aircraft in responses Friday.
Reports of the sounds were posted on Channel 2’s Facebook page Thursday evening by people ranging from Eagle River to the Mat-Su Valley. Some reports placed the phenomenon between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. Thursday, with Channel 2's Late Edition airing a brief update on the reports. Viewers' descriptions of the sound varied, but those who heard it generally agreed that it was a strong and persistent noise.
[link to www.ktuu.com]
I felt and heard this 'phenomenon' as they are calling it. Thursday night the ducks in the lake were squawking and quacking so loud they started around 7:30 I went to see if they were OK thinking maybe someone's dog was trying to get them or an eagle they were alright just excited. Came back in the house 'it' started at 8:03 I know this because I wrote the time down the noise was so loud and weird and I heard this high pitch tone right before.
This 'whatever' was bizarre it sounded like something huge was coming through the woods and knocking the trees down, it came from far away and then moved closer, it sounded like large amounts of dirt were being emptied into a hole (the sound you hear when a bucket loader drops a load of material into a hole) I was sure we had a series of earthquakes and kept checking sites, the hanging lamp in my room swayed, the dogs whined once then laid very still beside me. There were vibrations like you hear and feel when the volume is too loud on the surround sound and rumbling that sounded metallic. I went into the living room thinking my son had come in and turned the TV up really loud but no one else was home... then it quit. I had this strange sensation/feeling I felt this 'presence' from outside it's hard to describe I wasn't scared just this feeling something changed and it was big . Then I gave myself a pep-talk that someone would definitely think I was nuts if I said that, told myself there had to be a logical explanation. Thought it might have been the wind I checked all the sites there was nothing noted. Called several friends and they all heard 'something' loud but each one described it differently, one said he thought it was a huge wind surge, another thought the snow load had fallen off his house and shop but it hadn't, another thought it was a bunch of military airplanes. Didn't think anymore about it until I just read this story from the local TV Channel I have no idea what it was but writing this has me really thinking about it again now I'm wondering if it was atmospheric?

I know the spectrum monitor is for all transmitted frequencies between 1MHz and 30 MHz. Most are man made frequencies like, cell phones, dish, internet transmissions to and from satellites. Some of the signatures seen are also Heliophysical in nature etc... This frequency range is too high for most quake signals, for they are in the ELF/VLF range. This can tell you the amount of electromagnetic disturbance is in our atmosphere from cosmic energies, ie solar storms, flares, CME's etc...

So what do you think is causing this spike? The ionogram is lit up too
[link to www.haarp.alaska.edu]
is this what has been giving us all the trouble with tv, internet, phone issues the last few days? Would this cause headaches and the unrelenting ear hissing also? and I know this probably sounds crazy but ever since we heard the phenomenon noises like wind, airplanes, sounds louder and clearer I guess that's a good way to describe it like you can focus in on the noise and hear it better? If that makes sense it's the best way I can describe it I noticed this after the night we heard the sounds and thought it was weird but just me then last night both my kids said something about it asking me if I thought the wind sounded different which was one of those 'wow' moments. We haven't had any notable cosmic events that I have seen for the last week except for that one CME that's due here tomorrow I think.

Its not the sonic booms causing the noise, its whats being dropped from the B 52's. Part of the test range is about 20 miles south /southwest of Dugway. If you take the test range exit off of I80 and drive south you can watch them making their bomb runs.

Apart from the sonic booms some scientists give other explanations like acoustic gravity waves (electromagnetic waves). If this one is right, we will hear more creepy sounds.

This was not a plane. The house shook, the windows shook, the sound was very low pitched.

This type of thing (the very loud booms) have been going on for twenty to thirty years.

Personally happened to me in 2004. Dec 24, 2004 in south-west of Columbus, Ohio.

My dad and I investigated.

I KNOW what causes these and I will NOT say.

I know what is happening and WILL not say.
