In Hampton Roads, VA all the hospitals including Portsmouth Naval hospital are asking everyone use a face mask when entering. I have a feeling things will get much worst.

I was sick at Christmas and my daughter and granddaughter tested positive for the flu. My granddaughter was given Tamiflu because she is so young and has asthma. The doc told my daugher to take Vit D and Zinc. When I started to come down with I took it and I only suffered for 2 days. btw....my daughter is a nurse and they have to have the flu shots, which she did. She still came down with the flu. She was the only one who got the flu shot.

I live near Atlanta, Georgia, and I, along with my 3 year old son, mother, grandmother, and father have all had flu this season so far.

I haven't had flu in years before this, and this is the first time my son has had flu. It was pretty bad for all of us. Worse symptoms were respiratory and sinus.

First noticed a scratch in my throat, that continually got worse throughout the day. This particular flu hit FAST and HARD. Within 12 hours, I went from feeling a MINOR scratch in my throat, to having to stay home, rest in bed, and feeling like complete horse shit. Within 24 hours, I had ALL full blown flu symptoms, and my head felt like a hot air balloon.




I recovered faster than anyone in my family. I was also the ONLY person who took chopped up garlic cloves, in a spoon w/ olive oil. The trick is to chop the garlic cloves real fine, then smash them a bit with the spoon. The active alkaloids that fight the flu are released when the garlic is CRUSHED.

To prevent burning your throat, you put the garlic cloves in a spoon w/ olive oil, just enough to coat the garlic. Good luck fellas.

LOL drinking star anise tea right now! I always make huge pots of herbal tea. Each time I make it I add something different. Today it's anise, cinnamon, green tea, ginger, and cloves. Teas can be medicinal.

Yeah, Vitamins C, D, Zinc, the homemade onion syrups, the elderberry syrup---all good, and cheaper than either prescription or over the counter. So don't freak out if your store is out of meds. It's all natural. They don't cover all the flu strains in the shot, so something mutated and got worse.

It's a pattern that will continue, each flu season will be worse than the last in terms of casualties we have run out of tools with which to treat the secondary infections.

I would suggest everyone take the flu shot and hope that the scientists made the right guess about which strains would be most prevalent......because those will be the strains in the shot.

If you get the flu and its a A-variant ...... Your in big trouble and may not survive.

My worst symptoms lasted about 5 days.

I started with a couple days of bad headaches, the kind that wake you up all night. After those, low grade fever but plenty of sweats and chills- throat got really sore for 2 days. Then came the congestion and cough. Plenty of fatigue and muscle soreness the entire time.

Today is 16 days from onset, I have just a bit of cough left and am still a bit tired. Naps are great.

My husband had a high fever, but blew the worst symptoms through a day faster. He still has a bit of cough too.

My family are all diligent handwashers. We caught this by being in a smallish space with people who were clearly infected. Our son did not get it, was not with us when we were exposed and we took care to not spread germs in the air at home by covering coughs, frequent handwashing, keeping distance between us.

Nearly everyone we know has had a bout of it over the past month. Same symptoms- headache, varying fever, cough, sore throat, fatigue and muscle aches. It seems to take a week to work through the worst, another week of minor symptoms, and another week to feel "normal" again.

No one I know has had complications from it. We did not get flu shots and the people who gave it to us also did not have flu shots. We did take ColdEese as soon as the sore throat started, about 3 days in.

I havent had the flu in 3 years now. I am 20 years old. Last time I got the flu was when I was 16..
I havent had anything worse than a cold since then!
I even take the public bus, I havent worn a coat all winter. Just long sleeves or a sweat jacket. I live in Iowa too so it gets pretty cold.

My grandmother was born right after the Spanish Flu outbreak, and from what I heard it was Bad. Her older brother died from it.
In fact here in NC the flu is so bad they are asking people to not visit the patients in Hospitals. It made me feel uneasy since I had to go for outpatient surgery, was so glad to get out of there.

I was at target and Publix, both had expectorant. I don't understand why people would want the cough suppressant. When my daughter had the croup, I would buy the expectorant by bulk. It kept her chest clear and loose. Anything else would give her a dry cough that was stuck in her chest.

The kids and I did not get te flu shot. I drilled two if my daughters classmates at school today! Poor little 6 year olds. They both had te flu. OMG the one is just getting over it and was spitting when she talked.

Neither had the flu shot. The one little girl said her mom said no shot unil she turned 11. They both threw up alot apparently.

I have a cold going on 3 weeks now, in chest. Just can't get rid of chest thing. I'm on and have been on 4,000 D and other vitamins.

I loaded up on shit at the store today just in case!

It seems that flu spreads very fast.

I eat raw vegan and get plenty of sunlight even here in Boston; never sick, ever. Whole rest of the family and relatives are sick cuz they eat shit get no sunlight and got those mercury filled flu shots.

my husband and I both just got sick in Boston. I got the flu shot due to health issues, my husband did not. My sickness was not too severe, more like a bad cold. My husband was deathly ill for almost a week, and ended up developing pneumonia,104 temp for multiple days. ended up in ER twice. We are both 31 and neither of us have ever had issues with the flu, or pneumonia. My sister is a nurse at beth isreal hospital and said that the flu shot has been somewhat ineffective against this strain. She said for some, symptoms are lessened, which is what she thinks probably happened with me. She said the hospital has been full of sick people who have received the shot.
