Vitamin D is your friend....
 Quoting: ººEATºº

And, if you have not been taking your fat-soluble secosteroids regularly and you do get the flu, the fat soluble cannabinoids could save your life

In flu, what kills otherwise healthy young people is the so called "cytokine storm" when the immune system goes out of control, producting so many inflamatory proteins they damage the lungs and heart:
[link to www.nature.com]

Cannabis can help moderate that:
[link to ebm.rsmjournals.com]

Thus, it is highly likely that the consumption of marijuana and cannabinoids modulates the cytokine network

Don't smoke it, of course, consume it orally, or vape.
 Quoting: zenobiaphobia

Yeah, but the cytokine storm is usually seen in strains that are pretty much novel, example being the H1N1, or the strain that caused the Spanish flu pandemic.

H3N2 has been around, except it's quite a bit more virulent this season. H1N1 is popping up, but I would say the majority of us have been exposed either by contracting back in 09-10 or by vaccination.

1 Timothy 3:16 KJV
And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

Isaiah 9:6 KJV
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Mark 16:16 KJV
He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

Acts 2:38 KJV
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Romans 8:6-9 KJV
6) For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
7) Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
8) So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
9) But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

Matthew 15:8-9 KJV
8) This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
9) But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

Acts 5:29 KJV
Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

The Hollywood version of MEV-1 had a fatality rate up to 25%. This will be similar to the epidemic we had in the early 2000's, maybe marginally worse.

Re: Boston Mayor declares public health emergency after flu outbreak
I'm wondering how many of the people who have died got the H1N1 shot 3 years ago which was shown to weaken the immune system.

Then they got the flu shot this year & bang, killer flu.

The pandemic that was feared 3 years ago is here.
 Quoting: mopar28m

It's all natural. They don't cover all the flu strains in the shot, so something mutated and got worse.

It's a pattern that will continue, each flu season will be worse than the last in terms of casualties we have run out of tools with which to treat the secondary infections.

I would suggest everyone take the flu shot and hope that the scientists made the right guess about which strains would be most prevalent......because those will be the strains in the shot.

If you get the flu and its a A-variant ...... Your in big trouble and may not survive.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24909641

shill

Vit. D3 was proven to be 800% more effective in fighting the flu than the flu shot according to a study done in Tokyo.

I"ve never gotten the flu shot & I don't get the flu.
 Quoting: mopar28m

Mopar, firstly you are very one-eyed on this topic,

Secondly vitamin D is very expensive so although ideal to take, it is perhaps unrealistic for everyone to take 10,000 ius a day. And most working people or city dwellers simply don't have the opportunity to sun bake an hour a day.

Thirdly penty of people have never had a flu shot but still get the flu and alot of them require antibiotics to help them clear secondary infections.

I have had the flu twice and had never had a flu shot prior to those events.

How do you explain the spread and casualty rate of the Spanish flu. No, please don't write me off as a shill, please answer that question first. A vaccine wasn't available yet millions of people died from that killer.

Mopar please, you must know that you have been at the forefront of the anti vaccine movement here on GLP for years and years and years. You have and continue to influence people not to take vaccines for anything.

In some cases we are talking about life/death or permanent disability as a result of getting the disease.

You may not have travelled much, you may not live in a big city, you may not even be American or anybody who lives the developed world......we simply don't know that much about you except you always promote no vaccines. We have to take a leap of faith that you are truly impartial in your opinion.

Everything I say is equally open to conjecture, but when you look at the failure of antibiotics which is so important in surviving an A- type flu I understand why taking the vaccine is being encouraged.

Are vaccines safe? I'm not a scientist so I don't know for sure about their long term effects on health, but I do know the flu has a pretty dramatic effect on your short term health, especially if you get a typeA.

Vitamin D3 supplement in USA is dirtcheap as hell. Where do you get that info from?

I can get a year supply of 5,000 IU pills for just 20 dollars.

You are pretty clueless of how things work. Vitamin D deficiency is likely the root cause why we get cold, cancer, flu, etc.

It is extremely a powerful hormone when your body converts vitamin D into it only if the body has enough of vitamin D in the blood. Vitamin D deficiency is very much widespread.... No thanks to sun scare and junk science...

No kidding. Got a bad one in 2005. Probably the worst ever I got. Heard about vitamin D in 2007 but never really believed it till I looked into it and tried it. Was almost too good to believe it but it did work. Vitamin D is the best thing ever happened to me for so many things after having tried everything. It is still too good and simple to believer that it actually works!

Re: Boston Mayor declares public health emergency after flu outbreak
I live in Indiana and was talking to a nurse today that works at an elementary school. She was telling me that so many kids and teachers are sick, and that she hasn't seen this many absences in years.

One thing that struck me as odd...is she said that most of the children that are going to their doctors...aren't even being tested. The doctors just "assume" that it is the flu. One doctor wouldn't test a child because he had gotten the flu shot; however, the mother demanded he be tested, and sure enough, it came up positive.

So...if alot of doctors aren't even testing for this flu strain, then the numbers being reported aren't accurate. That means that there are way more number of flu cases out there. Anyway, I just thought that was strange.

I am thankful that I homeschool my son, but my 2 teenage daughters do go to school. So I'm just waiting for them to bring the virus home and infect the whole family. Ugh...

I think I caught a flu a couple weeks ago. I couldn't tell cuz it was so mild, it didn't really interfere with my daily routine stuff except for a few days that I had no appetite and sweated my ass off while sleeping at nights for several days.

It was very mild compared to what I got in the past.

On Dec. 30, another otherwise healthy teenager, Max Schwolert, 17, of Texas, died of flu complications at a St. Paul hospital. Schwolert, who had been visiting relatives in Wisconsin, apparently developed a staph infection along with the flu, and the combination accelerated rapidly, turning ever more deadly, family members said. He had not had a flu shot.

And if you think that yourself or your child may be developing complications such as staph, strep throat, pneumonia, etc. please make sure your physician pays attention.

Re: Boston Mayor declares public health emergency after flu outbreak
Perhaps a thread should be made specifically taking a poll of who has had the flu this season, and where they live.

I live near Atlanta, Georgia, and I, along with my 3 year old son, mother, grandmother, and father have all had flu this season so far.

I haven't had flu in years before this, and this is the first time my son has had flu. It was pretty bad for all of us. Worse symptoms were respiratory and sinus.

First noticed a scratch in my throat, that continually got worse throughout the day. This particular flu hit FAST and HARD. Within 12 hours, I went from feeling a MINOR scratch in my throat, to having to stay home, rest in bed, and feeling like complete horse shit. Within 24 hours, I had ALL full blown flu symptoms, and my head felt like a hot air balloon.

I recovered faster than anyone in my family. I was also the ONLY person who took chopped up garlic cloves, in a spoon w/ olive oil. The trick is to chop the garlic cloves real fine, then smash them a bit with the spoon. The active alkaloids that fight the flu are released when the garlic is CRUSHED.

To prevent burning your throat, you put the garlic cloves in a spoon w/ olive oil, just enough to coat the garlic. Good luck fellas.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 801546

Same with my family,it hits fast and can take from 2 weeks to a month before all symptoms are gone.Im still a little weak from it after almost a month.

Dont do the flu shots at all, didnt take any antibiotics just did lots of water/chicken soup/bedrest.
