Kelby Smith, 34, had just gotten out of his car in his brother’s driveway on Crescent Drive about 8:45 p.m. when a man with a pistol approached him and demanded money, police said.

Smith was carrying his 2-month-old son in a car seat at the time. He knelt down in front of his son to shield him as the robber held the gun to Smith’s head, police said.

While Smith was handing over a small amount of cash, he pulled his gun out of a holster, said detective Brian Boesch of the Columbus police robbery squad. Smith is a concealed-carry permit holder, Boesch said.

The robber fled, police said, but then pointed his gun back at Smith as he ran.

“When I pulled my pistol he took off running and I shot and it hit him,” Smith later told a 911 dispatcher.

The dispatcher asked Smith how he knew the man had been shot.

“Cause when I shot he started crying and he fell to the ground,” Smith told the dispatcher.

A short time later, a man matching the description of the robber came into Mount Carmel West hospital with a gunshot wound. He was taken to surgery and is under police guard tonight.

Guy did a great job and complied, then once the idiot robber turned back while running and pointed the gun a second time, game over.

Don't know, I didn't watch the vid. Doubt there is a pic of him, they didn't release the name. A criminal is a criminal, anyway.

Video finally played...they can't release info until ballistics are done...but being Columbus OH, I'd say chances are it's one of those.

Impossible! Everyone knows the "if only the victim had a gun" argument is null and void since this gun advocate was executed!

Nope no pic, might be under age even by the sound of it.

One of the articles that I read said they won't release because the guy with a bullet hole in the hospital hasn't been charged yet.

What does a libtard do when they get robbed? Or when someone tries to rob them? Curl into the fetal position?

They question themselves by asking what they might have done to offend the robber...they consider his poor economic situation and his troubled life that lead him to commit such a terrible crime...and then they give him a blow job and apologize.

I carry a burn wallet... I use it to stash all the receipts and change... So it has somewhere between 0 and 19 bucks in it at most times. I also keep an expired credit card and some business cards and whatnot in it so it looks "normal".

That's what I'll hand over if i get robbed. IF i for any reason don't think that the robber will be satisfied with that, I also carry something a little louder...

The dad acted perfectly, no one should try to draw on someone that already has a gun pointed at them... Chances aren't good at that point. But when he turned again, then it's time to go to work.

Most people killed in robberies aren't killed because they fought, they are killed after handing over their belongings by a criminal that doesn't want to be identified.

And I'll be the first to offer my cell phone.. It can be tracked through GPS, so i'm hoping the guy is that stupid.
