A lot of people have eaten an icky can of sauerkraut, and then think they despise it. There's lots of kinds, some with fennel seed, many homemade recipes. It's good for you, easily made, and probably will be a mainstay of prepper cuisine post-collapse since cabbage can be grown in early Spring and Autumn.

If you don't like it, try others. Try red cabbage made that way and sweetened with honey.

It's just fish jerky. It was a common survival food in Asian countries when under siege in citadels. It is quite odd to chew on dried squid tentacles, but tastes good.

Russian people eat it. French and Italian people might eat it if raised along the coastline. People who grew up around any of those groups do as well. I'm actually interested in dehydrating foods as it's the most practical way of food storage.
