Do you TIP at Sonic? I always do but NEVER again!

Well if they take out 100 orders on their shift and they get .75 each thats an extra $75 a nite, if they are not happy with that. Then don't given any. The youngsters of the day are too ungreatful

fuck em, thats about 12 percent tip, 15 percent if for exceptional service. And if they don't like it, pony up and get a big boy or girl job. U weren't really out of line, should call the manager and complain.

True about that, Farley's Ghost, that alot of youngsters are ungrateful, however alot of people these days are having to hold onto whatever little money they get. Sadly enough it's a vicious cycle. With how things are degenerating these days I wouldn't be a bit surprised that the phrase "Yo, gimme all yo muny now!" becomes something of the norm for waitresses, waiters, and other lowly paid employees all across the country.

If you don't have the money to leave a decent tip then please STAY AT HOME. A dollar is not worth much nowadays. Please don't try and make it seem like you are doing the food service industry a favor by tipping chump change. .

People in the food service industry remember who their good customers are and who their non tipping jerky customers are. Note to all please make sure you tip appropriately when dining out anywhere. It is not for us to make a judgement call on whether or not a car hop is working more or less. Im sure they do more than just bring you your food. Good Luck Pal!

The last time I went to sonic my daughter wanted a cheeseburger with no condiments on it so I ordered a cheeseburger with nothing on it but cheese and they prepared a cheese sandwich, no burger. Idiots!

Sonic employees don't usually get tipped. Could it be that you misread her reaction?

I use to work at Sonic when I was a teenager. We got paid minimum wage. And not waiter wages. I'd make tips and wasn't required to claim them. It was extra money under the table so I was happy with anything I received. Being tipped there is something extra and shouldn't be expected.

I hate tipping people for doing their fucking jobs. Seriously, there are people working 40+ hours a week doing much more strenuous work for minimum wage and they don't expect tips. Fucking world man, fuckin' world!

People need to chill out. Everyone makes mistakes. That's the problem with society, people go out and they think they are the shit and kings or queens of everyone else. Enjoy your time while out, be thankful for what you have, and tip where appropriate. Respect each other and view everyone as equals. I'm not in the food industry, but people in general have become real assholes in everyday life.

If someone brought me lunch, 5+ $ I would have made it 7.50.
You don't have to wait in line and everything brought to you unlike a driveup window, the cashier doesn't have to bring it out to you, so usually no tip.
Sonic driveup however, imho you could tip like you would a regular waitperson.

In the late 90's my friends made $6.50 an hour at Sonic while min wage was somewhere in the $4.75- $5.25/ hr range. As of a few years ago they still paid over min wage here so, no, I don't tip at Sonic.

Also, don't tip just because you feel bad because of how little someone is paid to be waitstaff. Not that min wage is a lot, but, if someone doesn't make at least that with their tips added in, their employer is legally obligated to make up the difference to bring them up. Again, it isn't that much, but after paying my way through college with scholarships and waiting, I have no pity for someone who can't get me silverware even though I have my entree and doesn't bother to get me a refill. If you can't make money with tips you are in the wrong profession!
