Quoting: CeeLite Hope someone else can help him.. Yes this is right and a low dose potassium pill always helps me go back into regular rhythm !OP did you see a cardiologist? If you did get a second opinion. If not ask for a cardiology consult!Tell them you want to wear a monitor for a couple of weeks. This has a better chance of showing the rhythm disturbance but doesn't always as was the case before one of my surgeries.....the minute the surgeries were over however all hell broke loose and the metoprolol alone did not fix the problem......once I told them to check the potassium and it returned WAY low I was given a potassium pill and all was well within the hour! Now if I feel that my heart is about to go out of rhythm I take a low dose potassium pill and lie down and rest....this has always worked for me! |

OP: WHAT MEDICATION DID THEY GIVE YOU? do you have any risk factors? WHAT TESTS DID THEY DO? any other symptoms? how long have you had palpitations and how frequently? lots of people have symptoms that indicate to the dr that it is not "a serious problem" , in other words lots of people have arythmias and if your DR didnt hear a problem with your heart beat when he listened to it, and the tests were allegedly fine, they may not want to do anything else unless your condition worsens. i work with medical insurance all day long convincing them to pay for tests using their guidelines (all insurance companies have this process and i dont think people know about it).... i look in the charts and try to "prove" based on patient symptoms AS PROVIDED BY THE PATIENT AT THE DR'S OFFICE. unfortunately doctors are always rushed and ITS YOUR JOB TO MAKE SURE TO TELL THEM EVERYTHING , have you had ANY dizziness, shortness of breath, swelling in your legs and feet, leg pain, syncope (pass out) or near syncope, chest pain, arm pain, jaw pain, are you old? do you have a fmaily history of heart disease, have you ever done cocaine, are you fat (hi BMI?) ? anyways. unfortunately the patient has to do the work to make sure they get the care they deserve. i would say based on what EXTREMELY LITTLE info you gave to the thread , that you are probably fine. if you get more symptoms or more frequent symptoms call and schedule a follow up and demand more testing. whether or not your insurance will pay for it will most likely depend on what you tell your dr your symptoms are and what she writes in the chart. in other words... you didnt hear it form me but if you REALLY want more testing that your dr REALLY doesnt think you need , then either ask for a referral to a cardiologist who will order expensive tests ALL day long or tell your doctor some more mad eup symptoms (NOT ADVISABLE AND COULD EFFECT YOUR FUTURE HEALTH CARE IN THE FUTURE~!!!!!!!!!!) |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1550123 United States 01/09/2013 11:54 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | some posters already mentioned potassium and magnesium. if you aren't already taking them maybe you should try. too much magnesium and you get the runs and can then back off. a couple 100 mg of potassium per day is safe from what I have been reading. maybe take the potassium first and see what happens in a few days and if nothing then try the magnesium. they are both water soluble so there shouldn't be a build up. google info about them before taking them or anything. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 25020808 Canada 01/10/2013 12:09 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | i'll be short : your problem like anyone is excess cholestrol. which should be handled by liver. liver eventually run out of space holding all the bad fat - fatty liver. this will give you first - bad body odor, inconsistant stools(mostly constipated) and less dark. if its light color that means gall bladder is full of cholestrol and if it stays that way without proper food it would turn into stones. when the stones try to pass out of 1000's of liver ducts you'll feel the symptoms you've mentioned. you'ld feel like you're having heart attack. remember that liver is sitting right beneath your lungs and encapsulating heart. solution: cut excess fat but not completely. try to get liver cleanse and in the meantime take raw acv(start with a tablespoon in a glass of water). lemon water will also soothe the symptoms. it might take a year or two to completely rid of stones in the liver. you can fix your problem by reading book by andreas moritz: amazing gallbladder flush. you'll not only cure yourself of this misery but also inspire others around you. remember that unless you address liver all other solutions are temporary fix! all the best |

January Wolves User ID: 31857005 United States 01/10/2013 12:45 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Coast to Coast am show had a researcher on a couple of nights ago that says doctors and their big pharma only treat the symptoms and not the cause. He didn't seem too far out there as far as natural remedies but believes doctors need to use the natural medicines much more than they do. He has been doing studies with a "red wine pill" that he claims is doing wonders. He also said that anyone who emails him about their problem he will answer if they mention the c2c show. He also had a surgeon on with him for part of the time who was very impressed by the "red wine pill" saying that it activates your own stem cells into healing you instead of having to be injected with them. The researchers name is Bill Sardi. Anyway, if you are interested here's the link to the show which also has his website linked. [link to www.coasttocoastam.com] I was impressed because he seemed to be somewhere in between traditional medicine & natural. He gave scientific evidence (as did the surgeon) for the miracles happening with the red wine pill. It did cover heart conditions and dozens of other things. He wants the medical field to be more receptive to natural things as this. |

FYI: I almost went to the ER last year, a new type of ingredient in Nose Spray OXYMETAZOLINE. Heart was so erratic, it was terrifying, until the crap wore off. Went online and found a lot of folks had the same, one woman did have a heart condition from it and almost died. |

I'd go to the pharmacist and let him know all the drugs you are taking. They are often good at finding the ones that causes your problem. Second, I'd start taking magnesium, maybe 500 mgs a day. It helps to regulate heart beats. Irregular heart beat is a bigger killer than blocked arteries. I'd also be adding 200 mgs of CoQ10 in a single serving each day and I would start taking the herb hawthorn a couple times a day. Author, inventor, disorganizer. The pain was so severe i would drop to my knees and be gasping for air on the floor. Quoting: sssss Had the same problem with the doctors, so i may be able to help you out to some degree. I fixed/applied the following and haven't had a problem since. 1) hows your stress levels, and rest/sleep. 2) your diet, how much processed foods involved. Energy drinks and "aspertame" (in alot of things) are renowned for heart problems. 3) clean water- no flouride, heavy metals. Those 3 things will fix virtually the cause of any problem. High blood pressure could also be a culperate, but is solved by the above. Do you have any other symptoms? Another consideration would be spiritual phenomena. Lots of this going around these days, which tend to have quite a few uncomfortable symptoms. Energy blockages, suppressed emotions will result in heart palpitations. As would the opening of the heart Chakra. I discovered later on my cause was a combination of really high stress and a chakra opening. Hope you sort it out. Bro I'm doing all of that now. Since Sunday when It happened I have even been exercising more. BUT same shit happened 45mins ago?!? I don't understand, I really don't. Sounds like your stressing a bit, which is understandable, but its not gonna do you any good. Stop taking random pills the GP is giving you, it will just produce more unwanted symptoms. If you have tried all the usual physical treatments, diet exercise, doctors etc to no avail. I think its time you started approaching the last possibility. Why are you truly being faced with this problem. Think about it. The body doesn't just get sick. Their is a cause. If the psychical side is in good form, there is only one option left, The psych. This is good advice, especially about taking all the drugs you're on to the pharmacist, you ought to do that. Magnesium comes in different forms, magnesium glycinate is a good one, also magnesium chloride. Other kinds can loosen your bowels more than these two in my experience. Do not take magnesium oxide or magnesium aspartate. Those are bad forms that won't do you any good, from what I've read. Magnesium citrate is one I've tried recently, I've heard it's bioavailable, it's cheap, but seems to loosen my bowels more than the other two I stated, even when taking with taurine. |

Wtf?!! You need to demand a halter monitor. It is a device that you wear for several days, and write down when you feel these palps, and they can compare it to what the monitor has recorded. I have an off again on again flutter. If I force a cough the arrhythmia resolves itself. I take 81mg of aspirin a day to avoid the potential of clots from this arrhythmia. No I have no insurance, and can't afford to go to the doctor, so it is undiagnosed. The only reason I am aware of these measures are due to the fact my son had SVT many years ago, and under the advice of a cardiologist this is what was prescribed. If you have insurance, definitely look into the halter monitor, as it seems these events hardly ever coincide with an ER, or Dr. visits. Good luck |
