Actual Stats of Gun Deaths Vs. Deaths by Other IImplments in US, UK & the World
Real statistics on violent gun crime in the U.S. and the world.
According to the FBI:
in 2011 there were 12,664 murders in the U.S. Of this total, 8,583 were from firearms So 4,081 were not firearms related murders Of these 400 were ruled “justifiable” homocides by law enforment And 260 were ruled “justifiable homicide” by private citizens U.S. has highest gun ownership in the world : 88 per 100 persons Yet it is 28 in the world for gun related homicide deaths Honduras, El Salvador, Jamaica and 24 other countries have higher rates than U.S. in gun related homicide deaths (2.97 deaths per 100,000 people). The U.K. has the 2nd highest crime rate in the EU. Plus the 5th highest robbery rate and 4th highest burglary rate The EU named Britain the most violent country in the EU *Now compare: the UK has on average 2,034 violent crimes per 100,000 people per year (that’s higher than S. Africa’s 1,609 violent crimes per 100,000 people !) VS. the U.S. which has 466 violent crimes per 100,000 people = people in the UK are well over 4x’s more likely to be victims of violent crimes than in the U.S. • However, on average the overall UK total of murders is on average about 600 per year. So if only about 60 deaths can be attributed to gun deaths in the UK last year, that means that you are 10 times more likely to be murdered (if you do get murdered) via bat or knife or what have you non-gun.
