I beg to differ. The educated and civilized men of Europe raped and pillaged the Western Hemisphere, Africa and southern Asia to their hearts' content. It's called modern world history, 1450-2000. No help was given to those uneducated and uncivilized who asked, "Don't kill or enslave us!"

What I'm saying is, don't put too high a value on education and civilization to provide the moral fiber necessary to be compassionate or charitable. In the 19th century, the Germans achieved the highest level of culture on the European continent. In the next century, they exposed the barbarous incivility of which all men are capable.
