Just a quick update for all those stupid GLP'ers that fell for this crap...

After receiving abuse and bad Karma for suggesting that this was a staged campaign funded by TPTB, thought i would just remnd you of the bullshit a majority of people here fell for.... Hope you learned a lesson..

2012 was the year that Invisible Children went pro. You remember the viral campaign, right? Kony 2012?

You should, because last year the outfit raised more than $32 million and they’re not too shy about admitting there’s been a bit of a windfall.

At June 30, they had $15.5 million in cash sitting around, up from $6 million the previous year, a slightly embarrassing amount they confirmed they didn’t know what to do with.

In a cutesy mock-handwritten addition to their accounts, they confirm there was a “significant increase of revenues” that the company - sorry, charity - was still figuring out how to manage.

“Not exactly the kind of decisions you want to rush through,” the handwritten comment says.

True, many businesses in the US are failing while others struggle with a lack of cash flow, and their African counterparts are still battling bribes, need microloans for essentials and a lack of infrastructure.

But Invisible Children has its heart in the right place, surely?

It may do, but it’s still figuring out where that place is.

]The report also shows that almost all revenue raised by Invisible Children in the 2012 financial year was unrestricted, that is the funds could be spent on anything rather than just the program which generated the funds.

JP Morgan Chase supplied the funds for the campaign to Invisible Children, to ensure client Tullow Oil would have a smooth run in extracting Ugandan Oil....
Without those pesky Africans's telling everyone that we are robbing the country blind....

Like i explained when this campaign was first launched and all my threads were deleted...

Like you SirGee, I did'nt buy it, if it looks like BS and smells like BS then it is probably just that. Kony has not been seen 2006 and is probably dead. There is a documentary out there where some of his victims were being shown a film about the project and they got so enraged about it that they went on a rampage of destruction because it so badly mis-represented them.

Most charities are total scams like this. Something like 10% of your donations actually end up helping people in need, AT BEST. The rest of it is stolen or goes to stupid administrative costs.

But at least it's more efficient than donating it to the government.

I don't get why people are so quick to judge(and in this case damn) when there is absolutely zero evidence that IC has been anything other than a charity.

The video was well edited and pulled some heartstrings and had a huge share base as it struck a cord, what i don;t fully understand is the character assassination and obvious bullying of the cause when it did nothing wrong(as yet proven).

They haven't been investigated or even accused of any fraud and until that day comes or there is a shred of evidence to suggest it I will assume they have the best of intentions.

Re: They didn’t get KONY but they did get your MONEY…
There is a fascinating book called Wizard of the Nile -- written before the viral video -- about Kony.

The whole nation of Uganda is one giant scam.

Kony is indeed an evil nutjob who does kidnap people, and keep them prisoner in the bush. He and his forces do commit many heinous atrocities.

But the president of Uganda has discoverd ways to keep more and more foreign aid pouring in. The government has promoted the policiy of forceably relocating normal villagers into refugee camps, so that they can "root out" Kony from the bush.

More and more people living in camps requires more and more foreign aid. Of course that foreign aid has to be "administered", and little of it actually goes to the relocated villagers. So there they are starving and looking pathetic, which brings in more foreign aid, which must of course be "administered".

It's ALL as scam folks.

They'll need to spend a good chunk on medical treatment for that gay nutjob who lost his marbles and ran around naked when shit got serious.

I don't begrudge him the money, guy sort of earned it. You really got to believe to achieve, heh. Money passing from one variant of stupid to another is no worries.

A sucker is born every minute.

It is indeed a total scam, and much ongoing investigation is going on.

Here is just one website that is totally devoted to educating the public about what a sleazy scan the whole thing is:
