I buy 0% of my ammo from walmart. Fuck them. Just bought a couple boxes of 45-70 today from Sportsmans Warehouse. About to order a box of Garrett's as well online.
Prices in this caliber have been flat. Its great.

This is almost funny. We got citizens and federal agencies buying up all the ammo produced all across this planet. All that Russian ammo is hard to find, too.

I'll bet you a dollar that private citizens have more ammo than federal police forces. Most the people I know who own guns start getting stingy about shooting when their supplies get down to a couple or three hundred rounds.....also known as a combat load.

I was at a gun show just last weekend and it looked like the wolverines in the gun shop on Red Dawn. People were hauling shit out on dollies.

I can also tell you that there is no shortage of Ar's. They've been hoarded up in large numbers and can be had for the right price. An entry level AR that sold for $700-$750 a few months ago is running near a grand today. Common mags are over $20. Russian ammo is up $40 for a case. AK's are starting out over a hundred above what I have been seeing.

But so far anybody who wants anything can still have it as long as they're willing to pay premium.

Besides, every single former soldier I know keeps large supplies of ammo and seems to think that many of their former friends won't be inclined to deploy against their own people when they themselves agree with the people and disagree with the government.

Are you not aware of the current prevailing opinion towards our government among soldiers?
