This is why I've begun the process of getting on Disability here in Texas. My town just has almost no jobs whatsoever. The very few jobs that are available are extremely contested peon jobs such as McDonald's, Taco Bell, and other service/fast food jobs. My field is the IT field. There's not alot of technology jobs here in my town. I can't afford a vehicle of my own because I can't get a job. Welfare/Disability is the only foreseeable path for me to getting ANY source of income while I'll have a brighter mentality towards looking for a job abroad once I do get a vehicle of my own so I can go to nearby cities that does have much better technology infrastructures than my town. My last job back in November of '05, the owner of the place who hired me told me that I had to fight for my job and even that I'm vastly overqualified for virtually EVERY job in town. Which means that I must absolutely get out of town to find a job. Good luck, AC/OP, to find an appropriate job for yourself. Especially a job that won't leave you even more in despair than when you were without a job.

You know, LostReality33, I'd call bullshit on that if it wasn't for the fact that on numerous other conspiracy sites and forums I've found strong evidence where people have lost their jobs, and even their livelihoods for being a part of the "conspiracy theory" scene. same here bro. im a computer tech and im about to have to go back to waiting tables. every time i get an interview, i am fighting 20+ other people for the position.

i have dropped well over 100 times in the last 3 months. i even stopped smoking pot to be able to pass a drug test. i also have a clean background.

i have gotten maybe 5 interviews. i dont even know how i am going to pay rent next month. i would have cut my net off, but i use it to find jobs.

i applied for a server position today and they emailed me back and want an interview. hopefully i get it. OP you should try waiting tables man. its better than nothing plus you only work about 25-30 hours a week and usually make at least 400.

I just finished my Cert 4 in network administration and got a couple of CISCO certs. I'm gonna get some unpaid work exp first with at my old schools IT department to:

1) Get some valuable work experience in an actual working IT environment.
2)Use my experience there as something to put on my CCV.
3)See if I can get the employer who allowed me to work with him with as a referee for my next position. (Btw, I sought of know the person who heads that IT department)

Vocational school can offer great training in plumbing, auto repair, electrical, HVAC and other trades.

I used to recommend people join the military for job training and experience, but no more. The military has been totally compromised by people at the top with no integrity.

We are going like Europe. You don't see 18 wheelers all over Europe like here in the US. Soon you will see much fewer here. They don't need them in Europe as they have full sea cabotage. A part of the Jones Act was changed to build roads and sell cars and trucks. It limited most everything to 2 ports, Elizabeth City and Long Beach. If you took something from, say China, into one port and then shipped to another port in the US it would add another 12% onto rate. That is being undone. I've got signed in on a Temp Service here in town, you two a long while back. No calls, not a damn thing from 'em thus far. It's discouraging but I'm hopin' it's not impossible.

You could apply at your local ups hub/center, they usually start out part-time $8.50 an hour. There's hourly guys at the hub I work at making $23 an hour ft w/ anything over 8 hours a day being overtime, The drivers make alot more. It is a shit job until you get use to it. You could also look on craigslist it's free to post on there so you might find more jobs than a paper or a website that charges employers.
