Environmental officials explain that the fish, Atlantic menhaden, which travel in very large groups, took a wrong turn, up Loosins Creek.

Can't believe this thread hasn't received more attention.
Especially after the 4.3 quake off the Oregon coast.

Can you help me to get the connection between a quake off the Oregon coast and dead fish off North Carolina?

It's possible that there is no connection and it's all
just coincidence.
But if not, the connection would most likely be the Cascadia subduction.

OK, thanks.
But if there was a connection, how would a subduction zone near the PNW coast affect aquatic life near the more southern Atlantic coast?

Nice catch.
It wouldn't.....obviously an oversight on my part.
I read North Carolina but for some reason, my brain registered Northern California.
Guess I should've re-read before posting. Appologies for the misleading post.

That makes sense, hehe. N.C vs. N.C. hf
Considering all that swarming in the Caribbean, and let's assume EAT is right this time, could an impending large quake there cause all the dead fish so many miles up north? How's the water current there? Is it flowing from the Caribbean to the US east coast? Are there fish in the Caribbean that require the current for living, but once dead drift further north?

Hi DF, yes I am aware that hundreds of quakes take place everyday. I already stated that I confused North Carolina and Northern California.
I also know that science has proven connections between dead or beached sealife and seismic activity.
And yes, in this case....absolutely no connection.
