Water rises in one place, lowers in another... Alot of storms/hurricanes lately... When water settles will sink again?

It didn't came out of nowhere. They study the formation of this island since 10 years. It happens because of sand that gets blown there by the wind.

At least you read the article.

Still, it is pretty interesting when you think about it.

Wasn't there another island somewhere that has now disappeared? I remember reading something about it, but I can't place it.

Its very normal in that erea of "The WaddenSea"
At one place you have erosion and in another place there will be sedimentation.
Sandbanks come and with a big storm sandbanks go away again.

This 'island' is not more than a big sandbank, without enough vegitation to hold the sand. One stormsurge and its gone again.

Wasn't going to waste your link aye.

Does seem to be an accelerated process as from my understanding it takes many many years to occur but maybe some unnoticed geological event has been helping. 1dunno1

Maybe, but then again if it's got sand dunes that are up to almost five metres high and 49 species of plants thus far detected I'd say it's a bit more than a 'sandbank'.

Re: Extraordinary: New island rises off German coast
Pretty much all the islands off the German and Netherland coast once formed like this. It's pretty normal in the Wattenmeer; sometimes land comes, and sometimes it's been taken away by the sea.
