I've always loved Danny's work. Transforms the bicycle from mere transportation into an instrument of art.

Have you seen his follow up? Equally moving.

Way Back Home...

Re: awesome video had to post it
I've watched & re-watched every one of his videos for years to trying to figure how these things are possible.

Not trying to say I could do it, but essentially what you're seeing is he's using the back wheel like a spring. (a spring with a very thick, very grippy shoe on it <-the thick, knobby back tire)

Watch the 2009 one again, the barely existent, (barely usable) bike seat is set as low as it can go, practically on the rear tire to serve mainly as an end-cap for the frame.

Most of his long drops, his bum hits the soft thick back tire (more spring).

If you've ever seen him with his shirt off, he's built like Bruce Lee. All skin and muscle. Zero fat. He is an athlete's athlete. Conditioned by years, perfectly for this one feat: leaping, while pulling a light-weight bicycle into the air with him, to be used as a landing gear when he returns to the earth. Matched with the balance of a tightrope walker.

Yes ive watched it from a physiological and mechanical perspective and i wondered (this is a long shot) does he use spin/back flip/in his continuous moves to cushion the dead fall?for example im sure as hell it would hurt if he just dropped like a lead baloon from a container or 1 st storey or bridge, but he seems to 'tumble' if thats the right descriptor like as in breaking a fall in judo or acrobatic break he rolls into it so that the landing is just momentum within the whole move rather than a dead stop/ DUNOOO JUST HAZARDING A GUESS

Observe the contact & compression pattern of his landings:

He distributes the shock of landing impact by connecting with the ground, always in this order:
1, 2, 3, 4, 5

1). Rear wheel
2). Front wheel

Shock absorption pivot points:

3). Knees
4). Ankles
5). Bum to the rear tire

It's just amazing! A magic trick that never gets old!

I hope he lives a long life. He's contributed so much to our understanding of just how far one can go with a bike.

And if you turn up the volume you can hear the chirp of his repeated application of his massive disk brakes.

He's not using these to decelerate, but to optimize his balance and to stop the wheel dead to use the tire's grip like a foot.

None of these feats would be possible without the stopping power or precisdion of those disks!

Once again: not trying to discount his abilities. In fact I stand in awe of them!

Yes thats what i was trying to convey that same message 'the transcenders' the ones who stand apart/alone,there are great sportsmen and artists but there are only a few accorded the accolade of legend the ones who when people talk of a sport always refer to them but find it harder to remeber the others

How weird!
As a straight male father of two (with another on the way) not in the market for soul mates or life-changing relations, I must admit, the connections are profound!

Wth?
I suppose a friendship is in order? Tell me about yourself... are you male? (Not interested in befriending any females as I'm happily married)
Are you an adult? (I don't talk to kids)
Do you have any bizarre medical conditions? (don't cast a reflection, can't go out in daylight, thirst for hemoglobin, etc...)
Are you in the employment of any global or govt organization working on depopulating, poisoning or enslaving anybody? Lol

Free "spirit"? Indeed.

Body however: imprisoned with the rest of humanity on this concentration camp matrix of a planet ruled by lies, greed, imaginary Human rights and armed conflict.

Basically I'm an average joe. But unfortunately an enlightened one that sees the world through the uncensored lens that, franky, most folks couldn't bare to accept.

We are resources. Collateral. Free range livestock. Slaves but changed to the oar of our of own choosing. Work, pay taxes, consume... or die.

Even if those efforts and taxes only contribute to our own enslavement.

I'm not political or pretend to know how to fix the world, but one thing's for sure, the human race becomes more advanced, yet we've solved none of our fundamental problems: hunger, disease, greed, conflict ect...

In most species, survival of the fittest strengthens the line. For mankind, only numbers prevail, growth, to the victor go the spoils, to the lowest bidder go the jobs, to the dumbest goes the aide and to the ugliest, cruelest hearts go the reins.

We're on a sinking ship with interconnected pathological, sociopathic, meglo-maniacs at the helm, graded publicly, only hy themselves and giving themselves the high score.

If there was a promise land, I'd be heading there now, but alas the entire world's in it's grip.

Until science developes an antidote for lies, the world will continue to be the victim of them.

I feel that I see it all too clearly. The mainstream news makes me nacious, it's all so obvious!
