This article is interesting. It says that about 10 percent of the European population have a genetic mutation that probably was caused by small pox that seems to protect them against HIV ....

I think something like that must be going on with chicken pox, but no one has researched this yet and found it.

You may have had one or both and didn't have any symptoms.

I had chickenpox, but no measles. I don't think I've been exposed to measles. I was vaccinated for measles.

This article is also interesting. It says that there is another form of chicken pox and that the test doesn't test for it. So, perhaps you could have been exposed to this other kind of chicken pox and gotten immunity, but the test wouldn't pick it up.

Aren't chicken pox and shingles a form of Herpes simplex1 ?

I haven't had the chicken pox ever since I got them in 1984. I had spots all over my body, and I was itching like hell. I took an oatmeal bath with Quaker Oats, because that's good for when you have measles or the chicken pox. I was contagious, and because I was contagious, I couldn't go to school. My grandmother (who died May 22nd, 2012) had to be careful kissing me so as not to kiss any red spots.

the first time you get chicken pox than stay dormant and can then revive as shingles and yes... is herpex

LOL ! must have made these vaccines differently back WHEN.
i remember them lining us up to get the oral polio vaccine-- so we're lined up,lotta kids,definitely law and order as again this was back WHEN and we're watching the other kids walk by the table and take a sugar cube,OMG SUGAR CUBES !!!--same crap back WHEN everyone was flat broke and yer mom had a few cubes of sugar and they were for company ONLY-LOL so the district health nurse was putting drops on sugar cubes== so each kid walks by and takes 1--when we were near those stacks of medicated cubes and the nun wasn't looking we had to have A FEW and when it was our turn we took another one real humble and acting scared LOL !!!
remember comparing "notes" with the other brazen kids--how many ya take ? 3 ? 4 ? LOL !!!!!!
things had to have been different then.

never had chicken pox or measles mumps etc and WAS vaccinated for smallpox ,diptheria,typhoid and BCG( tb).
when i was pregnant with my 1st baby, bloodwork was done and i was told that going by the results it looked like i had measles and german measles and some other stuff--never had it bt most likely was ""exposed"" to it all.

Back in the 70's, when a kid, I had chicken pox, measles, mumps, and whooping cough.
A few little scars left over from chicken pox, I looked like a gerbil storing food when I had the mumps. But the most serious was whooping cough, my mother says that was scary for her, I was really ill with that, but still here.
I got all these before I started school, once in school, that is when we had all the vaccinations.
