Quoting: Anonymous Coward 11421136 After the government steals a chunk of your paycheck, bills, rent, power, water, internet, shopping then before you know it you've got fuck all money left except to get drunk on the weekend which is what most people end up doing. Rinse and repeat next week. Even if one made 100K a year, it is only around 56,000 in hand after all taxes. With a low 1200 bucks a month mortgage (rents in my neck of the woods are in 1500$ range) there is hardly enough to survive leave alone spending anything of it on "enjoying" any free time. |

Slaves that just do enough to take care of all our own expenses for our masters. Life is gone in a flash as your time is eaten uo 9-5, just existing for the next payday or Sunday Football. What an empty life. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 17579430 United States 01/14/2013 10:43 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Fuck starting a family. Who wants to bring a child into this bleak, miserable cold world, anyways? Work as little as possible: very little point in saving when you are young as inflation will erode the value of your money by the time you retire. Work just enough the scrape out the bare necessities and to give you as much free time as possible. To save money: Don't eat at restaurants. Don't buy heavily processed junk food or sugary drinks. Don't drink alcohol, use drugs, or tobacco. Don't go to the movies. Don't go to the mall. Don't buy movies--rent or borrow them. Don't buy books--borrow them. Don't buy CDs--borrow them. Get rid of cable/satellite TV. Stay a generation or two behind in video gaming (you can get great old systems for less than $30 and games for less than $10). Shop at goodwill stores and flea markets for clothing and housewares. Anytime you want to buy something wait six weeks and see if you still truly want it before purchasing it. Develop cheap hobbies such as reading books and watching movies from the library, swimming in a local lake, walking and hiking, riding a bike, yoga and meditation, cooking your own food from scratch. You will have plenty of time to do with as you please. |

ladulce User ID: 30056751 United States 01/14/2013 10:47 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I am able to sell my home, car and all of my belongings and move out of the country. For what I make from that, I can buy a nice piece of land with a decent home in the country. The kids are able to attend their 'home town' high school on line, and the younger kids will be enrolled in public school. While we may miss out on the 'ipods, wiis, and flat screens', we will more than make up with being in a community where everyone knows and respects one another. Not to mention, leaving Wisconsin (where there is no view of anything) and trading it for the Andes mountains, clean air and roaming llamas..... No question. A simpler life wins. |

I see a lot of disillusioned young adults thinking they will be happy getting a college degree and a career in the private sector. How far from the truth. Even small business owners these days are finding it harder to keep the doors open with taxes and overhead. I call a do-over!! |

None of the stuff you have do you take with you camping - nope you have a whole set of camping stuff for that - truth is - that's all you need - camping stuff. The simple life require hard labor. Now you've done away with all of it and you are back to the basics - your new problem is boredom. If you can't beat them, join them - but if you have any sense about you at all you'll tear them down instead. Nothing is new. |

We get fucking pocket change from our employers. No shit. I'm pretty sick and tired of this crap. I work my ass off and still have to eat Ramen Noodles for breakfast, lunch and dinner just to pay the light bill. I for one and sick and tired of hearing about CEO's getting HUGE bonuses for putting Americans out of work. Time to storm the Bastille. And NO, I'm NOT a communist. "No work ethic"...I'm sorry I would rather do a job I enjoy and more free time than to get some fuck all job and work my life away. Why is that seen as such a fucking good thing? You work your life for some douche bag making them profits and barely affecting their profit into the positive, and at the end of your life what do you have to show that your life wasn't completely meaningless? |
