Carving a post into elements in an attempt to
refute the whole, doesn't diminish the
original... to someone with discernment.

An observation is not debunkable..
In cases such as the moon being off, the tilt being
off, etc.. lacking access to historical data and
modern measurement techniques, and the know
how to use them.. the average, casual observer must depend on the experts.

A true expert does not get emotional or irritated.
He will state his case, provide empirical evidence, substantiation and possibly peer references..

Something is wrong when the mere statement of observation garners such vitriol and insult.
The karma tells the tale.

As the bard would have said..

'The lady doth protest too much, methinks..'
 Quoting: Waterbug

Point by point..

- not a conclusion.. an example to illustrate a point

- the average person wouldn't know where to
find nor correlate historic moon position information and data covering a span of time

- who among the average Joes has access to precise time measurements
and lasers, etc. to measure celestial bodies..
and the expertise to apply them in comparison to historic data
that may or may not even exist?

- I never said that I could or couldn't do it..
I'm talking about the average Joe.
And who are the us that you speak of..?

- I don't do 'parties'.

- Experts don't frequent conspiracy forums to demean
those who aren't specialists in their particular discipline.
If they do.. I suspect they are flawed in character.

...

Classifying it as "off" is a conclusion, not an observation.
...

Historical data is available.
...

Also available.
...

Well that may well be beyond your personal capacity, but you don't speak for the rest of us.
...

Here's an idea, go to an amateur astronomer star party and ask them if it's "off." Do it, I dare you.
...

No true scotsman fallacy.

Is the moon still hanging crooked?

Someone needs to climb up there and adjust it.

Sometimes a crow comes along and bumps it, and the cord that runs behind it is not quite centered on the nail.

No I don't really care, but it affects my credibility and may cause people to just go with another argument based on negative karma, which is how alot of stupid people base their beliefs.

My husband and I noticed the same thing over Dallas the other night--the moon was perfectly horizontal with no tilt. We've noticed numerous times in the past that it's been more and more horizontal, but as OP stated, this is the first time it was a perfect 'smiley face' smile. I'm 60; he's 63 and we've been observing the moon for a very long time--it's only been in the past couple of years that we've seen this drift toward the horizontal. The moon has always before, in our experience, waxed and waned to the right and left, with a vertical crescent like a parenthesis ')'.

Moon visibility is also affected by Parallax. It means, that in different latitudes, Moon will look differently. Parallax is counted, assuming, that Earth is round sphere. But what is strange, the same day OP posted it, here, where I am, was cloudy, but possible to see something. There was no Moon at all. And we are more or less on same latitude.
Also notice, all images of Earth from cosmos is copyrighted by NASA.
Moon in his movement has many anomalies, but this is too much.

Let me clarify it for you..

The average Joe is not capable of measuring these anomalies.
 Quoting: Waterbug

Cart before the horse. You assume there are anomalies. You just said the average Joe is not capable of measuring, therefore the average Joe is not capable of finding out for himself if there are anomalies or not. You still don't get it, your questions contain the assumption of anomalies.
All the average Joe can do is make observations.
They depend on experts to do their jobs with integrity.
 Quoting: waterbug

If you doubt the integrity of the experts, go to a star party. You already said you won't, but that just tells me you won't put your money where your mouth is. I'll even make you an offer, come to the next Chiefland fall star party and I'll show you in person whether or not there are "anomalies" in the position of the moon.

An observation by an average Joe is not debunkable.
 Quoting: waterbug

Your previous post contained a conclusion, not just an observation. An observation is an average Joe saying, "I saw the moon and it looked horizontal to me," a conclusion is saying that is "off" or an "anomaly." Average Joe doesn't know anything about field rotation or how the moon should look from a given perspective.
He sees what he sees.
 Quoting: waterbug

That's not the problem, the problem is that he doesn't understand what he sees and draws false conclusions from it as you did in your cart before the horse hypothetical.

Now from this information alone you should easily be able to identify that asteroid. Which asteroid is it and how did you arrive at that conclusion?

Is the moon still hanging crooked?

Someone needs to climb up there and adjust it.

Sometimes a crow comes along and bumps it, and the cord that runs behind it is not quite centered on the nail.

Re: Moon totally on it's side right now
I'm waiting for you --> 'SO is the Earth wobbling or something?' was my question.

SO is the Earth wobbling or something?

Yes, the Earth precesses and nutates. Neither of which remotely happen in a time span that would affect the casual observer's view of the moon.

Since how in just 8 hours?

PS - Hello, we are talking about the rotation of the moon in randomly days in about just 8 hours, not millennia.

.
 Quoting: DUCM900

That is due to field rotation, not precession or nutation.

You only asked if the "Earth is wobbling or something" and I answered.

Neither ways in which it does, would affect your view of the moon in "randomly days in just about 8 hours".

You have been told time and time again in this thread, it is due only to field rotation and the observer's position on the Earth. The ancient Hawaiians described it over a millennia ago and I sincerely doubt they are a part of this grand Crooked Moon Conspiracy.
