First, let us be clear: What would consider proof? What if an "alien" appears in front of you, with technology beyond your imagination. Will it be proof enough? Or will you say "Hoax", "Fake", "Illusion", "a midget in a costume". What you want as proof?
Proof implies on something already expected. For example:
Affirmation:
- Fire needs oxygen, something to burn and heat.

Logic:
Fire is the energy liberation of the heat in the thing being burnt, consuming oxygen.

Hypothesis:
If you take out any of the three factors(oxygen, something to burn and heat), fire will be extinguished.

Proving:
A piece of wood is burning.
1 - Cover it with, lets say, a bucket, oxygen will consume till the end and fire will extinguish.
2 - Take the wood off, fire will extinguish
3 - Throw water(cooling, thus, taking heat off), will also extinguish fire.

The three factors can be counter proven.

Conclusion:
Fire can be extinguished, taking off any of the factors needed for its existence.

This all implies that one KNOWS what kind of proof to expect. That's why I question: What you need as proof?

How many different species of intelligent being are there that have advanced skills in engineering? How long have they been visiting earth?
