I don't know if I agree with this....
my thoughts are that actors can really suck and when one actor does really well, a viewer notices the difference
yes there are a lot of award shows but it's kind of tradition
but like Heath Ledger when he played Joker. his performance was amazing for example. he was deserving and I bet people can name many more
it's just a sign of a really good job
